As a member of SFG I think you handled this just fine. If the guy wanted to discuss it with you, you gave him a polite and open option to do so. The person just wanted to vent. Overall, not worth worry about.

Guild reputations are built up over time, largely through interactions outside of the guild. One person carrying a chip on their shoulder is not likely to be much of an issue, IMO.

I agree 100% with you. One chip isnt a burden, but if there are many.....it can become an issue.

Since I am not a regular on this server yet (I just made a Shaamis for Sarlona last night BTW), I do not know SWG, but from the first-hand accounts here, I wouldn't mind grouping with them, to get to know them!

Shaamis lets just say this our guild leader is a Bartender IRL, most of us have mini fridges stocked up just for friday's raid nights and even regular quests we try to get as many drinking games going. OH and the best is the word of the night which we tend to say repeatedly to get people as drunk as possible. I should be on playing this weekend for sure may even get on tonight if my mouth isnt bugging me too much though im thinking a little more drinking may help that

I did the guild leader thing in Asheron's Call for a lot of years, and I tend to agree that preserving guild reputation is both tedious and worthwhile.

Sometimes, the complainer is just going to be angry, and there's nothing you can say or do to change that.

A more reasonable complainer would be somewhat mollified that an officer was at least looking into the issue, maybe even impressed that your guild is not just a bunch of elitist jerks.

But you do need to give them a chance, and looking at your log, it seems you just went into this expecting a waste of time, and it's exactly what you got.

The hardest part about representing a guild is knowing that someone is probably an a$$hat, but then not allowing your opinion to show. IMO, You handled it correctly, right up to the *yawn*. That's just adding unnecessary fuel to a fire that you already knew was burning. If that yawn had been left out, the guy would probably still have been a ****, but at least he wouldn't have had even a feeble leg to stand on for his responses.
