    Default Totally New

    Hey guys ,

I am really new to this game and i love DnD , so hence me trying this game out.

First thing i notice is A LOT of number crunching and so forth! Which i was hoping could be missed out as i am not a number cruncher , but never the less i love this game even after a few minutes in game!

Could someone help me please or advise me in a build that could focus around a damage dealer for a barbarian please?

Or are barbs useless?? I am noticing a lot of people saying that they would not take a barb into a dungeon run ... could someone explain perhaps to me please. Are they that useless??

I really am new , so what ever value you can add or help me with will be greatly appreciated!!

I am looking for a Dps/Tank style char that can keep alive (noticing you need to be able to heal yourself etc) , unfortunately coming from a WoW background it was alot easier to just slap up a char there and roll.

But being new i have no tomes , which i am noticing in almost every build you require them ... are there no builds out there for a basic beginner??

Is there a faq out there that explains what some of the abbreviations are that you guys use like BAB etc .... thanks for the help!!

    Many thanks!!

p.s :- Just want to have fun while learning the game

There is nothing wrong with Barbs. It is a great 1st character to make and learn on. Any criticisms you hear largely relate to how Barbarians match up against other classes when all are completely maxed out at the highest levels with all of the best gear--answer they do fine, although aren't the highest damage dealers.

This is a game where you learn a lot as you play. If you like it, you will eventually learn more details and can experiment with other build types. But a barbarian--max STR and CON and become a two-handed weapon melee--is a solid build that is hard to mess up--and a great one to start with (and it will be useful throughout the whole game at all levels).

Man i am so lost atmo , with so many builds that are out there as well as soooo many people saying whats what on the build etc.

My friend has decided to play a Cleric/rogue build.

And really what i am looking for is a char to solo with as well , barb came to mind and i read up on the new forums build list and the barbs there don't really grab me by the b@lls if you know what i mean?

Is there a class out there that has survivability and being able to solo with??

Please help again guys , any advice is accepted and i am reading up on the stuff that you guys post. Thanks!!

Either Ranger or Paladin. Overall the Ranger is a bit more solo-friendly than the Paladin. Both have good AC potential and adequate self-healing capabilities. Both of which are necessary when soloing.

Barbarian is the most solo-unfriendly class in DDO, as they need a healer´s attention, or they go down in a flash of glory.
