casting without components

I have a new cleric, but not new to the game. I have three capped characters, two of which are Wizards, so I'm pretty familiar with casting.

My cleric is level 6, and as such, I have access to, and have been casting level 3 spells for quite some time.

I was just cycling through my characters, purchasing components, when I realized I never purchased level 3 components for my cleric. I have level 1 components (1000), level 2 components (872), but no level 3 components. I've been casting level 3 spells, and as I'm standing here, I'm casting Cure Serious Wounds (lvl 3) and Protection from Energy (lvl 3) without any difficulty.

I do not have eschew materials, and am not even sure if clerics can even use that feat (or why they would want to).

Is this a known bug I've missed out on?

No bug... it's just that not all spells require components.

You cannot, for example, summon a pet without components.
