One disadvantage of being anonymous is that the people who have you on their friends list won't know whether you're on or not. So unless you're in the same guild you'd never know if your friends were on.

That's the reason I don't go Anonymous - that way even though I may not be able to see that a friend of mine logged on they can always see that I am on and send me a tell if they'd like.

Late at night, I do this all the time. I send a tell like:
Shroud? or VOD?
….and I’ll get in return:
Nty or timered sorry
…and sometimes, no response which is fine.
Yet, I do receive a lot of replies saying “sure.”
…but if they do respond, I like to send a tell back. Something, like:
Np ty 4 reply.
Because not only were they cool about it without getting all butt hurt, but they responded and really didn’t have too.

I do think however, it is the job of the party leader and the leader only. That way each person will not be getting spammed like the OP did.

Personally I don't mind getting tells. I remember those that have helped me along the way and it's my small way of giving back when I can.

As for budweiser beer: Me and a buddy stopped off in an English pub for a beer. He turned to the bartender and asked for a budweiser. I ignore tells from people I don't know most of the time, sometimes I answer with a no. I figure its not rude to ignore an unasked for tell from someone I don't know.

This don't happen often enuf to make me go anom, i like to be accesable. enjoy awnsering question from people needing awnsers but I wont put up with spam/multi tells from the same person/group.
