Talking How do you get good players in your party??

This is a hard one. With all the players on DDO, and the release (hopefully) of mod 9 coming in Sept (which may make it even harder to get good players in your party), I find the easiest way to get good player is to generally be nice. Newbies are the best source for this. You can mold them much more easily, especially if they are not guilded yet. By the time a toon is lvl around lvl 7, they should have a good idea as to what they are doing and may not need as much guidance. Basically, treat people as you'd like to be treated, with respect, and you'll have no problem gaining good players who will constantly be showing up in your parties, time and time again.

And if that doesn't work, try putting up a wet bar with caged dancing girls. When they sit at the bar to drink and watch, drop a cage on them and starve them into submission, that's how they got me.

You're going down faster than a fat chick on a greased fire pole. (That's fast!)

If you mention girls in your lfm posting, you will quickly have a group full of hormone-raging (probably double raged) 13-year old boys. You will find yourself surrounded by stories concerning such drivel as,

"Wouldn't it be cool if you could date a girl that looked that good in armor."
    "Dude, my math teacher......"
"I am uber, I've been playing this since I was nine"

Over and over, in that high squeaky middle school voice that only parents love. Really, think before you put caged girls on the Sarlona server. Think of the children. Send the girls to me with a case of beer and I will protect Sarlona from beautiful women and alcohol. I will sacrifice myself.

OK, seriously, I check my guild list first, then my friends list, and then, if I absoltely must, the PUG board.

well be a decent player and you have no problems with good players joining you.... on khyber we have a 12ftr/4mnk in DT plate, listing for raids. people wonder why the group takes ages to fill....
If you want to know why...

Well, other than the obvious trick to join a good guild and add good players to your friend list, there are few other ways to get better PUGs.

If you add comments like "bring own healing", "in progress", "be self-sufficient", "healer is nice but not needed", "please carry your own weight" or "pst saying 'Chupacabra' to prove you can read" to your LFMs, you usually avoid the worse players and you're left with players of average skills and above.

Slight warning, you may get tells from a few people that are easily. Just ignore them.

Adding your guild tag to your LFM will also help in attracting the best players for as long as your guild has a good reputation but many will mistake that for bragging, which is a shame. Personally, I hesitate to join LFMs unless I know the person. Knowing from which guild the person is would help me making my decision, too.

Could be worse, I guess. He could be elf, have more than 600 HP and be S&B.

"Zerging, in progress, must know way" generally draws only those who could solo the quest themselves.

You seem to be thinking that "TWF" implies actually having the feats...

LOL, nice. Even more since it's a fighter with monk levels. You'd think he found a few feat slots somewhere, right?

How do they come up with these things?! If I can come up with an optimized build in 5 to 10 minutes, it can't be that hard to build a decent build... right?

well for me to join a party most of the time I look and see who is in it or at least leading it I know several people who run raids now and if I see they are involved then I ask to join. Also when I am on certain of my characters I am usually asked by people who know me or have ran with me before. So make a list and watch for those players and if they know you they will surely join you

Usually I try to be as self sufficent as possible. I put in my lfms BYOH/fast run/zerg/IP/Be able to get here etc. I usually leave all classes available. I like to start groups with one or two peeps I know I can count on to be the same.

Im not into helping new peeps most of the time unless they can keep up. I will take one or two once in a while, but currently I am burnt out teaching, unless its end game stuff.

If you are truly fully awesome then the other 5 or 11 people are irrelevent, so pug with whoever, or just solo it. But if you are only semi-fully awesome then acknoweldge you need the help of others and offer a little patience in helping the less-ubers to improve. The entire population will benefit from your teachings and pugs will grow and prosper in quality and talent. And there will be much rejoycing!

Seriously though, I totally understand where your coming from but nothing good will come from a segregation of uber and non-uber. If the skilled achievers do not pass on the knowledge to new/unskilled players then what will we have?

At this point in the game, is there any quest you can't solo or 2-man? Probably not. that leaves a lot or room for nooblets to come along and learn. If everyone would just pug 20% of every quest/raid the entire server population would prosper from it.

    The Apocolypse is nigh'.
Watch it or you might get earthquaked. This is the only guy I have EVERY asked someone to drop his stone out of reach of the shrine and recall. We did, and we were happy for it. Rude, inconsiderate, doesnt care about the team, arrogant, makes inappropriate comments over party chat (Jannie loves Chauchie???). Twice I have been in group with him both times he was dropped, once by me, and once by someone else. I rarely drop peeps, sometimes I'll reform a group to get a friend in, but have rarely dropped peeps. This guy was in a group with the OP the other day in Therenal, I didnt realize it when I clicked on the lfm. Fortunately the OP never accepted me into the group, so instead I got to make some Vol runs. No boots though
