I also am not knocking doing something with more survivability like Wizard 12/Ranger 6/Monk 2, it is a very sensible build. In no way am I saying this is better overall.
My goal was to have "raid worthy DPS", displacement, self-healing, and evasion. I just couldn't get to that first requirement without going with the split that I chose.
On shroud elite this build compares very well to the following: these are all very good DPS builds.

That is only 8% less than a Tempest Barbarian who is killing themselves rather than self healing.
The only builds that are more than 10% higher are WF Frenzied Berserker's killing themselves or "monster" variants.
Lower, you say that the DPS is not worth the survivability, I guess I would say what is the survivability worth really in terms of DPS if you are going to make that claim.
It isn't like this build isn't survivable, I have evasion with a solid reflex save, 400+ hit points, the ability to heal for 100 points in combat with no fail, and the ability to use reconstruct scrolls as well.
To me higher saves and even more survivability aren't worth that much at all, I don't plan on dying and don't see that as being a major issue, it certainly isn't a fragile build.
I don't think survivability is the issue, quickened repair criticals are still pretty good self healing.
To me the better decision point is do I want to use spells for DPS along with melee. If the answer is yes then more wizard levels make sense. If all I am going to do is swing weapons (which is my intent), and use the wizard levels for self healing/buffs, then to me this makes more sense.
I think the DPS difference is significant 30-50+% more depending on what build you are comparing and what you are fighting.
This build is meant to be a different flavor of a Ranger, sacrificing AC and bow feats, for better arcane buffs. DPS wise they are very similar, even with 50% fort, the amount of damage that 7 Rogue adds is significant compared to going to 18 Ranger vs. 6.
