Experimenting with the builder again today and created a fighter and tried to take elven arcanum for being able to access the elven arcane ranger line. The description states that elven arcanum can be taken at level 1 with no limit or pre-req for being able to take it. As such it remains greyed out. I am assuming this to be an error since an elf can become and elven arcane user without having the ability to cast spells.

If I cam wrong I would like to know as well. Any information regarding this would be appreciated.

Unfortunately this is working correct, that line of enhancements are only available to Elf Wizards. I tried to do same thing in game and found out the hard way.

Question Arcane Archer Conjure Arrows AP costs

I was playing around with some archer builds and noticed that the AP costs in the planner seem strange.

    Code:
    The Planner shows:

Elven Arcane Archer: Conjure + 2 Arrows AP cost: 1
Ranger Arcane Archer: Conjure + 2 Arrows AP cost: 1

Elven Arcane Archer: Conjure + 3 Arrows AP cost: 2
Ranger Arcane Archer: Conjure + 3 Arrows AP cost: 2

Elven Arcane Archer: Conjure + 4 Arrows AP cost: 1
Ranger Arcane Archer: Conjure + 4 Arrows AP cost: 3

Elven Arcane Archer: Conjure + 5 Arrows AP cost: 1
Ranger Arcane Archer: Conjure + 5 Arrows AP cost: 1
Does anyone know the AP costs of the Ranger AND Elven Arcane Archer Conjure Arrows enhancements? I don't have a character I can check with.

Have to say that the planner is great and I use it all the time.

I did notice an issue today with monk/sorcerer multiclass that the saving throws were not calculating correctly. I should caveat that I'm assuming info in the compendium on what the values are supposed to be is correct and that the end results did not match.

However, that is a minor issue for me as I'm more interested in the feats and enhancements.

    Thanks for a great tool.

I will double check these, but some enhancement costs have been changed for mod 9

Hey Leyoni, If you could provide us with you save file or any information of what you think is wrong . We then can take a look to see if it needs fixing.

Here is a L1 monk with DEX, CON and WIS all set to 10 (standard base number for AD&D). Note that the saves are 3/1/1. According to the compendium those numbers should be 2/2/2 for a monk. And this indicates the numbers should be another 1 in each category for being halfling.

I would expect the display, then, to show 3/3/3 across the board if I set DEX, CON and WIS to 10.

Yep you are correct, It is not calculating the monk saves properly and I will fix that here shortly.

Thanks DragonStar. It just seems strange that the AP costs for +4 arrows are different for Ranger and Elven Arcane Archers and that +5s are cheaper than +3s.

According to Beta Numbers that I got before it went down and the Compendium they will all cost only 1 point each. I have verified that this is what I have in the new build coming out this weekend if we get all the feat issues fixed.

    Hey Aesop,

I'm working on the planner as we speak. I need a tad more info to make sure this was fixed. DS could probably figure out what you were referring to, but I'm a bit more dense

There is no "Blunt" WP Spec enhancement for Kensai. They are all weapon specific (club, greatclub etc), so I can't find the enhancement you are referring to. Could you narrow it down for me?

What is the parent heading? And what is the name of the enhancement?

I believe he is talking about the main Fighter prestige class Kensei I which requires one of the Weapon specialization feats. This was a previous problem that someone reported earlier and has been fixed. I even went and doublechecked.

    Hey everyone,

It's amazing we're already up to 12 pages in this thread! Thanks to everyone that submitted bug reports since the 3.05 release, which was a major upgrade to the planner in preparation for Mod 9. We had some bugs, for sure, but that was kind of to be expected when there is a level cap increase and a new class all at the same time. Exciting times, to be sure

I think we are about set for a new release on Sunday (8/23), unless we find any bugs before then. I've been worknig on feats, and I think I've ironed out the last of the issues now. Feats are very convoluted, and it's kind of amazing that they work almost entirely right out of the text files with very little hard coding (there is a tiny bit, but not much, almost all the functionality of the feats come right out of the text files). I've finally fixed the two problematic feats (Simple Weapon Prof and Dwarven Waraxe), which now work exactly as they do in the game, and I'm pleased about that. And I've killed the reported bugs with the FvS feats not appearing properly, among other things. As far as I can tell, everything is working (I hope I don't have to eat those words after the next release)!

In addition to what I've been working on, Dragon has been hard at work, and I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say he has fixed literally hundreds of discrepancies between what the planner said and what the game actually does. He went through each and every enhancement in the game and made sure all the numbers were correct and the descriptions were up to date, not to mention fixing the dozens of bugs you guys reported. I can't overstate how much work that was. I'm really grateful for his help, without what he did the planner would be weeks away from being in such great shape (if in fact I could even find the time to tackle what he did at all, which is a pretty big if, heh).

Also, you guys will be glad to know that we've fixed the enhancements so that they are much more responsive. No longer will you have to wait for the fighter enhancemets to appear, they come right up when you click on the instruction text. I know that was a pain for a lot of people, and I'm glad that we managed to find and fix the issue.

I'd be foolish to say there are no bugs left. I'm sure there will be. There always are Hopefully there is nothing left that is major though.

There are two reported bugs that I know of that I'm not dealing with in this release, and you should be aware of them.

    1) Tanka discovered and reported a somewhat rare bug that could set of the planner's validation checks with regards to feats. It's pretty convoluted to make this go off. You have to be multiclassed, and at least one of your feats must be "automatic with no prereqs" (which means you get the feat regardless of whether or not you satisfy the prereqs, rangers have a lot of these), and you must not satisfy those prereqs, and you have to have another feat whcih relies on the feat you get automatically but don't have the prereqs for. IF you satisfy all those conditions, the validation check MAY get confused and tell you you have an invalid feat (ie you get the red flashy bar).

Whew. Okay, I'm not fixing that right now. I know why it is happening, but the fix is definitely non-trivial, and I want to wait until the next build to tackle it. Fortunately, there is an easy workaround if you hit this. Just change your race (at Level 1), and then change it back. This will clear it up. It will come back every time you load that character from a save, so you'll have to do this each time until I can get the fix finished.

    2) The second bug is the printout. With characters hitting level 20, the data for those characters is really not fitting on two pages anymore, and we're getting text chopped off at the bottom and over-running each other and all sorts of badness. I'm going to overhaul the printout to deal with this. But again, that's a non-trivial task. So you will have to give me some time to work it out.

The next release of the planner is going to be a major overhaul. Probably the biggest since the addition of equipment. The classes that make up the code are in bad need of some reorganization. Every time I changed something to fix one thing, I found I was breaking two other things, and when that happens, that's a classic sign that your classes need some care

For those of you who are users, you may not notice a lot of difference initially. But trust me, once we've reorganized the classes (mostly by breaking them apart into a lot of subclasses), we'll be able to add new functionality a lot easier without the risk of breaking what we've already got. Releases will be quicker and more bug free. The codebase is three years old, it's in need of some TLC at this point Now, because nearly every line of code in the planner is going to be rewritten and/or moved somewhere else, it's possible we might introduce new bugs at first. Because of this, we're going to mimic DDO in this regard and do a reset. The next release will be a beta version. And it may take some time (and of course, this presumes there are no emergency releases before then). It's a fair bit of code to go through, and there aren't any shortcuts, it's one line at a time, heh. So that's what you can expect for the next iteration of the planner.
