    Default Champions unite

I see a lot of talk about people looking to try Champions Online. As a player since launch of DDO, I am done with this.

I went to tentonhammer and right on the front page I got first look at Champions. Active combat, character customization, who knows if it will be good or not, many have promised and not delivered so who knows, at least its something new???

But with all the people mentioning checking it out, would be great to play on the same server, though I have no clue what the names of the servers are.

    Anyone know more?

Champions is looking bad actually. The preview vids are all short and choppy just showing a quick cool move. Look up some real gameplay footage and it looks really bad. Hopefully they polish it up more.

My money is on Global Agenda. A full shooter with deep character creation similar to guildwars. You can amass tons of items and proficiencies but can only take in so many things at a time and can only actually use one at a time. It sounds overly simple, but it adds so much strategy it's insane. Plus there's PvE against robots and such. Gameplay vids look smooth and sexy. Full range of weapons from complete melee with daggers and axes, rifles and sub machine guns, all the way to rocket launchers, weird stuff, and gattling guns. Can't wait.

Rolling back to City of Heroes in the mean time, since I havent' gotten a beta invite for GA yet. i16 is going to finally put in complete power customization and a ton of power sets added to other archetypes beyond the originals. If you're into creating characters and enjoying just building up what you made, it's a great game. The action obviously doesn't stand up to DDO though, it's a very normal MMO.

Ya, not sure what if anything will grab my interest and hold it. Its a shame beyond shames that DDO has turned out this way.

I really have had not reason to stop playing the game except for the terrible managment of resources and lack of content and character progression.

I am so sick of VOD, Shroud and Hound I cannot even begin to explain it.

At this point characters are ununique and boring. All running around with the same GS weapons and mostly the same items.

There are no MMOs coming out in the near term that even hold a candle to DDO, warts and all. Once Dragon Age hits, though, I'll disappear for a few months (and there will likely be "much rejoicing".) If you've never played it, or stopped early before you could realize just how good the game is, I suggest a break from DDO to play Mass Effect. Easily the best CRPG ever, IMO.

Ive tried War, WoW, AOC, heck even Tabula Rasa.

None held my interest for long really, War was alright for a couple months.

There are some things that look cool about Champions, but after going through the laundry list of games - I dont hold optimism.

I've tried it, and when a dual core with 4 gig mem, and an Nvidia 275 runs a bit choppy on the game, what does that tell you?

As for active combat... go grab and xbox 360/PS3 controller and play an MMO like CoH. There is your active combat. You can now shoot off your powers while moving. FPS like DDO it is NOT.

As for the graphics... I hate to say this but I actually liked CoH/V graphics better than CO.

The only crowd that will like CO is the group that liked CoH/V. That is it really. The hype about CO makes it seem like it isn't going to be CoH/V 2, but really it is.

These are my opinions about it, and I do suggest you try it for yourself. Games are ment to be fun, and if you can have fun, DO IT! Play where you have fun. That is the point.
