Thumbs up I'd like to see stuff left in chest be lootable by anyone

This could probably be a gameplay option.

"After closing chest make all items lootable by anyone"

That way anything you dont want you dont have to specifically allocate to somebody (and sometimes to the wrong person)
You can just leave it open to first come.

I can then just leave spell components in the chest, scrolls etc knowing that those who want them will just take them or leave them.

There's too many people who enjoy leaving highly sought after raid loot in the chest to p1ss off the others in the group.

It would be cool, though, to add a "General" choice to the loot transferance menu... then stand back and watch the virtual scramble

It's a nice enough idea, but it wouldn't really work as you describe.

Example, first person loots desirables from chest, leaves behind components. Second or third person (after first is done) loots all. Maybe everyone else just loots all. Basically, after the person leaves the chest, the next person to loot would just probably loot it without noticing whether it was free for all or not.

Also, what happens if you accidentally close your chest but forget to loot something of value.

    You know how this goes.

It would just be a way for you to assign an item to "Anyone", instead of one specific person.

That way you don't have to ask who wants it and stand there at the chest waiting for an answer. You can click the button, say "free loot here", and let them decide if they like it. It's a timesaver for you.

I would like to see loot go open or unallocated after the person who has left it in the chest leaves the quest.
That way any loot leftover can be cleaned up by the ones who stay in the quest and the zergers grab what they want and exit, everything else becomes open to anyone left.
Or even randomly reassign to those that are left until they leave and so forth.
That way if you really want the chest left-overs all you have to do is be the last one left in the quest.
Helpful in those cases where someone has flipped an item to the wrong person and exited, but the person it went to has already left.

Leaving scrolls, spell components and /or potions for those that want them is the idea.

And yes it's about saving you time.

Won't work. There are plenty of reasons to pause before you loot everything, particularily in raids where many ppl leave the raid loot in the chest for a bit even if they are going to take it so that others can see, and if they aren't going to take it, wait for a rolloff.

/not signed you can close a chest yourself then loot everyones stuff... they have given us an option to give stuff in chests away, that's good enough for me.

I do rather like the "Give to anyone" idea, though. But make the "Loot All" option not loot that, so someone has to actually pick from that loot.

Won't work, too much of a potential for griefing. Even if the person truly didn't want the items they left behind, who's to say that the next person to loot the chest wouldn't take the leftover items just to spite the rest of the party?

I'll continue to sigh sadly when I ask for those 3 stacks of Khyber Dragonshard Fragments from the chest that no one wants and I get ignored

No thanks, I often leave items in chest that I plan to loot later for whatever reason. Wouldn't like to return there only to see that someone already snagged it.

The only acceptable method would be to only allow free reassignment if the person with his name on it already left the instance.

My issue with this is that there are several places where opening a chest triggers an ambush. Usually you open the chest, deal with the ambush and then go back to the chest. There is also the chance of something you didn't notice having agro'd on someone and interrupting your chest inspection.

With this option in place, should I have to leave the chest to deal with monsters then all my items end up open for anyone to take.

I wise person who wants to grief others could wait until the part gathers to loot a chest and agro something over then diplo it. Party ends up in a fight and while some people will hit "loot all" others will just move away and fight which will close the chest window for them. Griefer then slips over to the chest and loots it while everyone else is focussed on the mob.

The option to leave it to General is interesting but the people who currently grab two items and run are not any more likely to assign it to General than they are to anyone else.

    Default Release upon exit

I like Jotman's idea that loot in chests associated with people who have left the quest (or potentially are no longer in group), would solve some issues.

See a problem with that in cases of temp DCs and such.

I would prefer just adding an "anyone" to the drop down list. That coding is already in place for the drop list and would only have to be tweaked to bypass the specific name assignment.
(which I know isn't easy either, but probably easier than adding a whole new function.)

Definitely NOT in favor of losing loot entitlement just on chest closure.

Might be a good idea, one I would support, IF and only IF, it was a toggled option, and was auto-redistributed upon the owner exiting the Dungeon.

Stop trying to take my loot... if its mine then its not yours. Why are so many people worried about me leaving junk loot in the chest. It would almost be better if no one could see what I found in a chest. I mean its my loot so get your grubby hands off.
