Character Select Screen Graphical Issue

Hi, I'm a pretty technical user who is having problems with the game running on Windows 7 RC with an ATI X800 graphics card that was able to play the game fine on XP but under Windows 7 RC is having some really weird issues. I don't know if they're driver related, Direct X related or Windows 7 Related. I know that windows 7 isn't supported and that it's a beta but I know that many people aren't having a problem atm with getting the game to run properly.

My problem is that the Character Select screen doesn't display right. The screen starts flickering a LOT. It also keeps flicking back to the last image of the Succubus with the load screen then back to the character select screen. Fraps sees nothing but a black screen and the mouse pointer at this point. A screen shot shows just the image of the succubus. I'm using the latest driver for my graphics card for vista...

I installed DDO before upgrading my graphics card driver from the default windows 7 microsoft driver to the real ati driver. I've installed UT2004 and UT3 after upgrading the graphics card driver and both those have worked. DDO and BF2142 and BF Heroes all have problems and all were installed before upgrading the graphics card drivers... I'm running out of things to try. Honestly, the time of installation shouldn't have anything to do with why something works or doesn't but it comes down to some things working and some things not working... I really don't get it...

Clicking the Exit button works, I've managed to login to a character once or twice but the graphical issues were still there and most of the interface was missing, nothing was visible!

Anyone seen anything like this before? Anyone have any ideas... I'm reinstalling the client and redownloading it... I'm done many reboots and done just about everything I can think of.

is there a triple buffering option in the DDO graphics options? I'd try that first.

I can't even click on options, I've used the launcher to reset the graphical options... The only thing I could think of would be to use the .ini file and manually edit it but I think the issue is either graphics card related or directx related

managed to get tripple buffering on with ini file editing... same flicking between both images in the buffer... seems to me like it's the 3d stuff that it just can't display

dx10 shouldn't be possible as it's dx9 hardware, unless it's trying to play in directx10 because it's on win7... but that wouldn't make sense to me... I'll look into seeing if direct 10 is on but from my ini file editing I'm almost 100% sure it's in dx9 mode

You'll see "GraphicsCore=D3D9" in the ini file. Try enabling "SyncToRefresh" by changing it to "True" and make sure that the "Resolution" is matching whats set for the default Windows desktop. Also under [Troubleshooting] section change "MaximumFrameRate" to 57 to 60.

(that 85hz was the only thing I noted that might also be an issue, can you lower the monitors refresh rate to say 60/70hz depending on what refresh rate it supports, to test?)
