To extend that, as Pwesiela mentioned, burn a pot and hit all of the initial XP in as many areas as are available to you at that time -- i.e. hit searing heights, TR and Cerulean Hills and complete their explorers and initial slayers in one 3-hour block.

Good point. Anyone who KNOWS the areas can usually make a mad dash around all the explorer locations in 10-15 minutes an area in that one sweep. I would only slow down to kill any Rares I encountered thou, the EXP points for the early kill intervals are a lot smaller than the Explorer and Rare awards. HOWEVER the Slayer awards as you climb the ladder soon dwarf all the other awards along the way.

actually was running around a bunch recently with the modified triggers to DA in explorer zones. You can reach almost any quest you know how to get to now with at most a green alert and when green that does very little to you, with no movement debuffs or knockdowns anymore. I was even running around in the New High level zone and only on occasion would trigger more than green, and a lot of that as because I was getting lost and gathering up way too many devils, orthons, tieflings and more to be healthy.

I have also found that once you lose the chasers that the setting recedes a lot more quickly than before, so green drops to nothing even without killing in the explorer zones.

You can run all the way to the quests in the desert and about the only one you hit a green alert on is Chains by the time you are on the last ledge or so, assuming you do not bother to kill anything along the way.

You can get to every quest in the Vale without getting more than a green.

You can reach every quest in GH without getting more than a green and even then I had to take a wrong turn to do that.

The orchard is fine, sorrowdusk is fine...so on and so forth. At the lower levels, a few swings and dropping a couple of mobs drops the alert level almost instantly.

The knockdown is a lot more palitable with its current implemetation.

(The above was part of my Experience Changes survey of all the quests.)

The current implementation is that there is no nockdown, unless the mob gets that ability already. i.e. cats.

But I worry more about running from explorer point to explorer point without killing.

A wizard will be better for soloing than a sorceror, although the upcoming prestige enhancements could change that.

Rolled up my new toon last night. Going for the WF Pally/Wizard combo (massive immunitys). The name is "NoQuest Sunn".
As suspected, I could not get into Korthos right off the bat, so I'm going to have a guildy run me through the Korthos town quests (he has a level 13 sorc). The bummer is I'll be on vacation starting sunday morning and will be no where neer a computer for a week. By the time I come back, Mod 9 will be here!! Talk about not having time for lowbies.

Magic is a curious thing; full of hope and promise one minute, then someone summons a t-rex jet fighter to kill you.

Just run those 4 quests in Korthos on Solo level (heyton's tomb, cannith crystal, storehouse and collaborator)... the xp will be minimum and you can just subtract that total when you hit XP cap, and then earn that much more afterwards. Oh, and each time you level make sure you earn that much more before you level.

Should keep your experiment legit... you aren't going to get much more than 1500 for those 4 quests, if that much, if you do them on solo difficulty.

So I'm on my way with "NoQuest". Got him to level 2 today. FYI: It takes ALL explorers, ALL rares, and 400 slayers on Korthos to get a character to level 2! I think that is the longest grind to level 2 I have ever had!

Of course WF thats the vanilla recommendation from everyone is. The race does not matter one bit however a 14 wizard/2 fighter or 14 sorcerer/2 paladin would be good. Another class that might be good would be a pure cleric or some combination of that as long as you maximize your blade barrier.

I don't think I could do this with no twinking. The loot you pull from the lower level areas is just pathetic. It doesn't start getting good till the desert.

Glad I could provide some entertainment. WF Pally/Wizard is working out nicely. I kind of wished I took the Flaming Longsword instead of the Greataxe from the tutorial though. Ahh well.. It's kinda fun swinging the big ole axe arround.

So I just finished Korthos this morning. Total XP for Korthos = 9287 (All rares, explorers, slayers, plus 1000xp from tutorial).

    Onto Waterworks and C.Hills!!

You may want to do tangleroot before C. hills. It's amazing how difficult the hills really are. (scorching ray, shadow, fire elems, magic missile...)

I think you are thinking of Searing Heights, not the Hills.

You mean "before doing Searing Heights" instead of Cerulean Hills, right? I agree - I'd save Searing Heights for a point after you have reliable Fire Resistance

Yeah, I was shuddering just thinging about running arround Searing Hights. I deffinatly am going to save that one. The XP cap is level 7, so I'll probibly tackle it arround 6 or so. I'm also going to need a good guide for that since I really don't know it all that well. I have the maps loaded but there is nothing like a good live coach to take you through the pathing.
