So I finished up Water Works and Cerulean Hills today. I'm sitting @ Lvl 3. An interesting note, WW has 25 creatures to kill if you follow the path (not including rares). So it takes a bit to get to 400 slayers, especially without a group.

Off to Tangleroot. I'm going to save Searing Heights for a later level (5-6)

Magic is a curious thing; full of hope and promise one minute, then someone summons a t-rex jet fighter to kill you.

for getting thru the Korthos quests, what about if you leave and re-enter a bunch to get the xp hits? would that knock it down to 0?

Possibly. I had a High Level guildie come with me through them so I got the power-level penalty and the over-level penalty. That reduced the quests to 0xp.

The explorer areas in Reaver's Refuge aren't much bigger than the full threnal area. In fact, Soami Gardens and the Aussicaex's Valley are pretty darned small.

If we shrank our solar system to the size of a Quarter, and lay it at your feet, the Milky Way galaxy would still be larger than North America. ~NASA Perspective anyone?

Thanks for the possitive responces. This is an interesting undertaking and I'm glad to see some people have interest in it.

So I decided to hit up Tangleroot today. I figured "Eh, I've run arround that place enough. It shouldn't be that bad." Famous last words :-)
I pulled the Rare Wolf encounter right outside the Bugbear Inn. 10 seconds later, I'm as dead as a doornail. It seems I forgot the rares in this area are CR8's, and me solo at level 3 just wasn't enough. So I think at this point, I'm going to have to start recruting some help. If you are on Ghallanda, look for my LFM tonight. I should be on arround 8pm EST or so.

Yah if you get the Rare Wolf and his pack, you will probably end up tripped and dog food in short order. (Was running a level 10 thru it for some EXP yesterday while watching the ballgame (closing in on the 1500 kill mark I had been short of.) and that fighter would on occasion get tripped, but the mobs still could hardly hit (20's needed) his AC.) The other problem in TR will be the Trog Shamans unless you have a Shield Clickie since one of their favorite spells is Magic Missile.

You might actually have better luck with most of 3 Barrel Cove instead. Orcs and random pirates are easier to handle, as are the fishmen. You can also swing wide in the ocean and hit the Kobold enclave, just don't wake them all up at once.

I'm not sure if this has been posted here already, but I did a complete Orchard Slayer run yesterday on my capped ranger, solo with the exception of Mek'wi, my hireling, who kept me hasted and GH'ed. This is one place where you may want to just go after rares and kill what u see along the way as this place is huge.

I thought the Sands were tough, but the mobs are so spread out in the Orchard and the paths are not as defined as the Sands. It took me near five hours to clear all of this area, with optimal weapons. On a good note, I ended up with 484 slayers in that one run, and that was without the zombie train and rescuing the villager.....only the rats spawned. I'm thinking if u got all three in one run u would end up with 600+ slayers per run.

I decided to do a run just going for all the rares and only killing what was following me or that I noticed along a predetermined path. This took me much less time, about 40-50 minutes and I ended up with about 140 slayers, this time none of the multiple slayer rares spawned, which means this number would have been much higher even if just one of them did.

I find the second way is much more efficient, it takes less time and u are getting decent loot along the way. If u plan to do a conquest of this area each time, I would suggest a party of players that can each go thier own way as doing this by urself is a quite a chore.

Thanks for the breakdown of the Orchard. I'm no stranger to this area as my Cleric used to ransack this place on my spare time, but I never knew just how many slayers were in there. By that time I think I will be putting parties together as the loot is good enough to attract people on a regular basis.

Had a great run-arround Tangleroot last night. Thanks to Hempotha (who posted for the run, making my job a little easier), Jsubline, and Lynnx, I got most of the rares and all of the explorers. We didn't do too bad on the kill count either. I'm up to about 450. A couple more runs like that and this area will be done. :-)

I had thought of this earlier this year but decided it was too tedious too try. You will be able to get easy xp in mod9 from optionals. Doing each tear gives 400 in tear of dhakaan, most rare spawns in level 5ish quest are 500. The cratte gathering in Stormcleave was worth over 1k and that could easily be done by a level 4-6 to help get enough for entrance to atraxias.

I was thinking a monk/wiz warforged would be best, power attack and a staff the lower ones while healing yourself, then firewalls and pks later.

It is a LONG grind, but it's been something I've wanted to experament with for a while. I went with the Pally/Wiz route. The immunities are going to come into play bigtime when I reach the desert.

If you can get on top of the broken wall where the rare wolf spawns, or atop the awning at the door to One Earred Bugbear, you gain some advantage over Clamor.
So, I hear that one day we may get Familiars...

Thanks for the tip. That is one of the few rares I need to get still (I think I am missing the Spider Cave too).
