One of the best things I can suggest is to start your own groups advertising for newer players only. Nothing better than a bunch of people exploring a quest for the first time. This will be easier when DDO:U launches in August as tons of new people join the game and also remember with the launch you can take a less than full party into a dungeon and it will scale difficulty, so you won't necessarily have to wait for the group to fill with newer players. The hirelings also can help.

Keep an eye out for guilds active at the lower level with new players also.

    What he said.

And since you've played other MMO'S I'm sure you're pretty savvy when it comes to "getting" the attitude of veterans. But just in case other new players are reading this, make sure to be up front about your intentions for the group right from the LFM.

If you are not up front, you'll see a lot of veterans dropping group or dismissing you in disgust and being a-holes because they didn't sign up to smell the roses.

Just as an aside, I decided to help a new player (a Paladin) last night get Shroud ready while I was running on Fozzie. We did chamber first with 4 guildies, the paladin, and a PUG DPS from Pure Life. The paladin kept right up except for falling once.

Then, one of the guildies dropped so I got a PUG sorc for Devils. The sorc immediately stated he had never done Vale quests or been out to Meridia either. One of the guildies went to grab him, get him bound and then meet us in Devils.

The group retained the same membership through the last 4 quests. They were all very smooth. The only snags I can think of were that we killed 2 spiders in Dust, and when the paladin hit the fire elemental button trap because he hadn't heard my instructions to avoid it. To his credit, he didn't die. He took those ellies down, and he was a level 13!

In the end, it was a pleasure to lead this group since everyone listened to my instructions very well. Everyone contributed - the pally being so low level paralyzed mobs, and the sorc, even though he was level 14 was PK'ing and FoD'ing quite a few Mobs.

I want to say we tore through the 5 quests in about 2 hours, more or less. So good job Tiryal, Kutuk, Mrtank, Fen, Darux and Lykias. (To be honest, Lykias died the most out of anyone...)

Now "New Players only" would be a welcome (and balancing) addition to the LFG screen.

I could always pretend just a bit, at least, and get in those! Hehe.

    Welcome!

I've been playing for a while, but still my highest lvl character is 6, mostly due to the fact that i've started new characters twice to play with my friend. If you see me online, holler and maybe we can get a few quests going. I'm usually playing with my friend, so i may not be able to switch characters, but not always.

Ganak's advice is also gold, i've joined groups and even though i've stated that i don't want to zerg run the thing or whatever, still get dragged along at their pace. Start your own groups, make sure you put "No zergs plz" in the group comment and don't be afraid to say so if your unsure how to tackle a dungeon or something, more often than not i've found that everyone is new to thing that way when i've formed groups of my own, had a fun time tackling the dungeon at our own pace or simply getting ours butts kicked.

    My Characters:
    Meluinen Falassion - Wizard - 6.
    Ygdarria Falassion - Cleric - 5.
    Jherry Mistletow - Rogue - 3..
    Khumar Hammertoe - Fighter - 1.
    Jahied Marrow - Ranger - 1.

    Cheers!

You may never be new again, but you'll always be hopeless. 8D
