Got this press release today from Gen Con, thought it was pretty cool for people with iPhones (although I don't have one):
LaViaz Mobile to provide iPhone/iPod Touch application for attendees of
Gen Con Indy
Indianapolis, IN‹ (July 15, 2009) Gen Con LLC announced today that they have
entered into a 2-year agreement with LaViaz Mobile, based in Carmel, IN, to
develop an iPhone application for Gen Con Indy. Now in its 42nd year, the
nation¹s largest annual consumer fantasy, electronic, sci-fi and adventure
game convention is scheduled to be held August 13-16 in Indianapolis. Gen
Con Indy Mobile will allow attendees to synchronize the latest version of
the event catalog on their iPhone while at the convention. They will also be
able to ³mark² events as favorites and tell their friends about events they
are attending. The application will also feature integration with Facebook
and Twitter, popular social networking sites, and maps of all the venues.
Gen Con Indy Mobile will be available as a free download from the iTunes App
Store later this month.
³Gen Con LLC is passionate about delivering the most amazing gaming
experience possible for our dedicated fans at Gen Con Indy. These are the
same fans that grew Gen Con from the grassroots. Gen Con Indy Promotional
Partner LaViaz Mobile is bringing us to the cutting edge of social
connectivity, with the delivery of Gen Con Indy Mobile‹a valuable grassroots
technology. We are proud to work with their team,² stated Adrian Swartout,
CEO of Gen Con LLC.
Combining expertise in the Apple iPhone and industry knowledge, LaViaz
Mobile developed EventView, a modular application development platform for
the iPhone. Gen Con Indy Mobile is the first application built on this
platform. In addition to providing a better experience for attendees, the
modular design and resultant flexibility of EventView make application
development and implementation minimal for convention organizers.
EventView also offers the opportunity to insert sponsor recognition.
