To me, teamwork doesn't mean:
"This character needs to be carried by the rest of the group, but that's ok, b/c I'll just change characters and help others out on their bad characters."

You know what I find hilarious.... is your misconception that we are bashing you because of our Shield-Toting......
I have 10 Capped Toons, 9 of these are melee`s. (Can`t say Casters are my thing...), of the 9 remaining 4 are permanent Shield-Users, and of those 4 Shield users, 2 are my favorite and more effective players as team members that contribute a lot and exceed expectations.
The build you posted/mentioned is an absolute backpack rock.... useless, but not due to his shield..... get a clue.

Arkkanoz / Barbarrus / BoarAxe / Bruttus / Dahlamaar / Dexxaan / Dominattrix / Gregorius / Inquisittor / Mechanikkus / Predattor / Suntzzu / Valkeerya
Perhaps at higher levels as you say...not a backpack rock now, generally I raise "rocks".
What I think is funny that I alreay acknowledged that "your" way creates more DPS then "my" way... but this is the way I choose to play this particular character, and that bothers you.
Let it go.

From my perspective, I think most new players do not want to be gimp, anymore than experienced players want to build a gimp character. Giving new players a chance is always a good thing, and helping everyone involved on a quest is part of the party atmosphere for most of the groups I am in.
There are always going to be individuals who do not want to contribute to the same level of others in the party, either by design intent or just play attitude. Both can be coached out, if the person has a genuine desire to change when this attitude is pointed out. It is not going to change that mission, but it will change over time.
A more recent example for me, was a series of three adventures I played with a Ranger. Each adventure, this level 10 ranger ended up in a backback 2-3 times. Ogres would seneeze on him, and his head would explode. At the end of the series of adventures, he had made 11th level, and I asked him "What is your Fort %". He told me 14. I said "No, that is your Fort Save, what is your Fortification %".....answer? Zero.
I then told him about Tapestry Runs, and asked what hat/helm he was wearing. "None Currently"...."Well Perfect" was my reply, "here is how to get a great helm for your toon".....
Sometimes, people need to be taught how to fish. We all did at some point. Help a gimp out, yo.
