i have a holy burst khopesh of pure good on kantas, that is no RR... but it has some ticks of perm dmg...

still works fine, and hasn't taken any since it was relegated to portal beating duty...

Do these really pass as portal beaters? 1d8+7+3.5+1+2.8 on these vs 1d8+5+10.5 with a +1 Greater Bane (which I would be embarrased to use on my Casters)....

Perhaps not the best portal beaters, but they work quite well non-the less....decent crit range, so although you cannot crit on a portal, the anarchic/holy burst adds some nice dmg...not everyone is lucky enough to have Anarchic Burst Greater Construct Bane. And 1d83d6+1d6 for normal hit, with 1d8+3d6+4d6+1d6 on a crit, is as good as if not better than a 3d6 for a Greater Bane.

Avg damage: 4.5 + 1 + 7 + 3.5 = 16, +14 on crits, or 360 over 20 swings (assuming you have improved critical)

+1 Khopesh of Greater Construct Bane:

1d8 + 5 + 3d6 per hit
Avg damage: 4.5 + 5 + 10.5=20, or 380 over 20 swings

Yes, the holy burst of pure good may have more general utility, but most likely if you're fighting Portals, you have some form of greensteel weapon that's going to be better than that already (or at least soon). So yeah, I'd recommend sticking to a cheaper +1 GCB, and it generally doesn't even matter what the weapon type is unless you have WS or use a racial weapon.

Compare that to some of the rarer weapons that people pay a lot for, such as a +4 Holy Khopesh of GCB I found a while back:

1d8 + 8 + 5d6 per hit
Avg damage: 4.5 + 8 + 17.5=30, or 570 over 20 swings

I'm afraid that's not quite true, although it's not as inferior as the other guy states either:

+1 Holy Burst Khopesh of Pure Good = 18.8
dmg = 5.5 (Base) + 7 (Holy) + 3.5 (good) + 2.8 (Burst @ 20%)

+1 Khopesh of Greater Construct Bane = 20.0
dmg = + 5.5 (Base) + 14.5 (GCB)


For comparison's sake:

+5 Holy Khopesh of Goodburst and Goodblast (triple pos) = 27.3
dmg = + 10.5 (Base) + 7 (Holy) + 3.5 (good) + 2.8 (Burst @ 20%) + 2.8 (Good Blast on crit) + 0.7 (Good Blast on Nat20)

+5 Holy Dwarven Axe of Goodburst and Goodblast (triple pos) = 30
dmg = + 14 (Base) + 7 (Holy) + 3.5 (good) + 1.4 (Burst @ 10%) + 1.4 (Good Blast on crit) + 0.7 (Good Blast on Nat20) + 2 (Dwarf)

+4 Holy Khopesh of Greater Construct Bane = 30
dmg = + 8.5 (Base) + 7 (Holy) + 14.5 (GCB)

I'm afraid that's not quite true, although it's not as inferior as the other guy states either:

...yours actually comes out as it being even further behind...

Edit: to explain, factoring in the 20th swing evens out the average a bit more in favor of the lower damage weapon. Yes, on a per-hit basis we effectively said the same thing.
