Running 2 Instances of Client on the same PC

Anyone doing this successfully?
I tried to duplicate the program files folder and got:

Connection failed:
Can't bind local socket. Is another client running?

Anyone else running 2 instances of the game client on the same box?

I'm not, but I read you need to have both launchers started up before you log into either of them.

You need to adjust the statement in the UserPreferences.ini in your MyDocuments folder of DDO. It has a uniqueport id check that is set to true. You need to change that to False.

I'm getting the error in the OP at the character select screen. as in past the launcher...

I know people had played around with this before, and I thought it did work.

somebody sent me a PM asking about this...

so I thought I would bump the thread.

i changed the user preferences uniqueport to false,

i made a duplicate file, called turbine - copy, and copied everything in the turbine folder and both the turbine folder and turbine copy folder are under c/program files.

I changed the dndlauncher application so one is called launcher 1 and one is called launcher 2. I put both shortcuts on desktop.

When i click on one shortcut, it opens screen to the point where u can insert password. at that point I click on the other shortcut. but all that does is close the screen and reopens it to the point where u can insert the password.

Confirming that it is not two identical login windows stacked on top of each other...

I would double check the 2 different shortcuts you use to launch the 2 different programs.

Maybe go old school DOS first?

the shortcuts are correct..both are the dndlauncher.exe I even tried making the duplicate Dungeons & Dragons - Stormreach in my D drive as I have my computer split into C and D drive (the original is in the C drive). But only one opens and closes when the second opens, even if I click both links almost at the same time.

you also need to open both programs without signing in, then sign in

yup, done....tackilack, ignore my pm...figured out the dos thing...but same result. I can only have ONE screen showing where you can input your password (I don't log on)... That screen shuts automatically if more than one is opened. I know it isn't two on top of each other because I move that screen plus on the bottom of the screen you can see that only one is opened.

You need to have 2 installations of the program on your PC, not trying to open the same one twice. And I think they need to have different names as well

I am trying to open two clients on the same machine in Win7 64bit. I've tried all the things here but still can't make it work. Do I have to have an installation without the download manager?

I have a relatively nice computer, so I have the settings for everything jacked way up for playing by myself. When I open a second instance my framerate drops to about 20 on both.

The way it's working currently, if you change the graphics settings on one instance, it changes the UserSettings.cfg file in your My Documents/Dungeons and Dragons Online folder that BOTH instances read from. I tried changing one of the TurbineLauncher files to point to a second directory with a separate UserSettings.cfg file in it but I believe the launcher detects an incorrect date of last modification on that file and downloads a new one.

I'd like to be able to turn all the audo/video settings way down on one instance, without having to adjust them every time I log in with the other.

It is possible to have the second instance use a different UserPreferences.ini and ddo.keymap. You can create a second Windows user and run the second instance off that account. Assuming Windows 7, to run the second instance from the other account, use Shift-RightClick->"Run as a different user" if you are using links, or using the "runas" command if you are using batch files. Each instance of the game will use the UserPreferences.ini from the Windows account it is running under. You can turn down all the sound and graphics in one instance if you want. When testing I didn't see a noticable difference in FPS in the primary instance when the second was running in low res vs high res. YMMV in that regard though depending on your machine. *shrug*

Ahahaha, If you guys dont understand what they are saying or if it is not effective, just try mine. You need fast or computer that can really handle 2clients. You dont need alot of computer experience.

JUST CREATE/USE OTHER USER ACCOUNT/ COMPUTER ACCOUNT(whatever you called them)!
Open the DDo launcher on your first account, then open again the DDo launcher on you second account. And done! You can now play 2 ddo accounts on 1 pc and you can now do your monkey business. Do whatever trick you have just be sure that it will not spread around the thread and in stormreach or else youll be reported. (If you know what account iam talking about then you can do it). I have just discover it after reading the threads that i dont understand !





BTW Iam looking for free/cheap flawless siberys. I can also trade that with a valuable information (for f2p)
