    Default Multiclass advice

Been away from game for almost 3 years. I want to make a new character to relearn. What is a good casting multiclass suggestion?

Would a monk/sorcerer work? A fighter/wiz? Rogue/pew pew? Whats a good Gish type here? Back in the day only a "pure" class was effective. I wish they had the Warlock class in game as that is what I play pnp 3.5 and 4.0

Any advice/suggestions welcome. If this means anything I have unlocked drow race way back when.

    Thank you

heh ps. Left WoW to return.... burned out there

    Casters are best pure.

If you want to fill a caster spot in a group, every feat and level away from pure makes you weaker.

    But........

If you want to be a Melee with a nice arsenal of Spells, Warforged Sorcerer multiclasses and Warforged Wizard Multiclasses are exotic builds, but can be made viable.

And if you want to really combine spells with Sword Mastery roll up a 14 Bard / 2 Fighter Warchanter. They are the true masters of Gish. ( and everybody wants one for their raid)
Erzskalde (Warchanter) / Erzassassin (just passing through - ignore me) / Erzsoldat (waiting for TR-time) / Erzschmied (ranged Artificer)

casters are best pure but a rogue wiz is a good mix, monks are best pure or mixed with ranger,

Rogues get something called thief acrobat, which among other things, gives them immunity to slippery surfaces and knockdown effects, and greatly boosts staff attack speed. 12rogue/6monk is a good starting point for a strength based staff using melee character with high mobility and full UMD for self buffing or casting a select few spells with no DC/level check. That's only 18 levels, too. You could splash a third class or take more of either.

Rogue gets an additional feat at 13 I think. So 13/6/1 something?

    Food for thought.

If you are looking for end game DC`s; SKills, Survivability and have only Drow Available I`d suggest the only Caster I play. (Melee`s my thing)

    Drow - Evasion Wizard:

Rogue 1, then take 8-12 Wizard levels, then Rogue 2 and got to level 20 CAP as Wizard.

Of course Focus on INT, CON, some STR (9 or 10 will do) and CHA for your UMD. DEX you say? I did and since Insightful Reflexes came around after I made this guy...I had a decent DEX but could have attained a better CHA score.

Base Gear: Blue Dragon Robes (I preferred Leather Armor); Reavers Napkin; GS Weapon (I preferred SSword) with +6 CON and +3 Exceptional INT on it; a Superior Potency Weapon on the Main hand; and don`t forget The single funnest GS Item (IMO) GS Goggles (Air x 3 for Air Guard, Spell points and +6 to your CHA skills)

Heal Scrolls are a cakewalk once you have hit Level 16. A WF Build such as this has the advantage of Spellcasting Repairs but it`s an advantage IF you have SP`s left and Quicken.

My suggestion if you're looking to relearn the game is to level up some pure-class characters first..

That said, a WarForged 2rog/18wiz would make a nice split. I've also got a 12Sorc/2Pal/2Rog that holds his own more as an off-tank than as either a primary melee or main caster. His spell selection is primarily self-buffs, reconstruction and a few offensive spells (i.e. firewall ) Exotic builds like my battlemage can be very expensive to level (a guildie of mine spent over 1 million plat on potions, scrolls and etc. (buying stuff with a high-haggle bard) leveling his drow battlemage) and really hard to play in the mid-levels when you start falling behind on BAB and haven't yet gotten your spell arsenal up to snuff..
