    Default spell dc's

what all do you add in to calculate spell dc?

I have a lvl 10 bard with envocation bracers with a 28 cha and my soundburst spell says its dc is at 22.

I thought you calculated spell dc 10+cha+half caster lvl=

anyways would love to know how to calculate it out. thanks in advance

Spell DC = 10 + relevant ability mod [here CHA]+ spell level [here influenced by heighten]+ Spell Focus feats [both stack] + item [only highest bonus counts, different items stack in no way].

Yep. So you would have 10 + 9 (28 CHA) + 2 (sound burst = lvl 2 spell) and possibly 1 from your bracers (don't know the stats offhand, sorry) = 22.

With heighten on, as you are a 10 Bard, the DC would be raised 2 points higher, as you'd be able to cast 4th level spells and heighten would raise it to that effective level.

But this is the inherent flaw with Bards in DDO. As our spells cap out at 6th level, we can only ever have +6 to the DC modifier from spell level, whereas a Cleric / Sorc / Wiz / FVS will have +9. That +3 could make a difference, sadly :/ Which is why it's important to have Heighten, and any items or spell focus feats you can get.

Now, if Spellsinger PrE is linear, that would offer a +3 to DCs at Tier III, which would put us on par with true casters (and put them through the roof with that buff), so that'd be nice. But that's all speculation at this point, of course.

Not if the Tier II and Tier III additional DC boni only applied to the PrE taker and not to the music hearer´s too. Much easier to balance.
