    Default Some tactics questions:

    Hey guys,

    1) My understanding is that halflings get a penalty to 'trip' due to size. Is that correct?

    2) Does this penalty also apply to 'stunning blow'? This is a question I have had difficulty getting an asnwer to.

    3) Do the fighter tactical enhancements work? I heard that they don't.

    Cheers

Any strength check based attack will be permanently -1 difficulty for a halfling vs any other race with the same stats/gear at the time, simply because they're starting with -2 strength. It will have +1 to the dice rolls to land vs missing in the first place though.

AFAIK - IMPROVED TRIP is the only one having issues. Regular trip, stunning blow, sunder, improved sunder, should all be working. I have not personally gone out and tested any of them, that's just what I got out of other threads I've read.

So they don't lose 4 for their size? I thought it worked kind of like intimidate - there is a -4 penalty for each size difference between tripper and trippee; giving haflings a bad start to it all. Was I wrong?

Interesting what you say about the enhancements. Maybe its worth going stunning blow, instead of trip and using the fighter stunning blow enhancements.

    Cheers

You get trip for free. Just don't take improved if you're going to take fighter/kensai enhancements.

I have never run a halfling... log on, make a lv1 halfling fighter with 16str, and see what your DC is on the trip skill. Compare to a human fighter with 16str. Should be the same.

Put trip on your hotbar and highlight it, it'll tell you the current DC. (10+Strength Mod+Enhancements/etc. = DC), DC is the dice roll they have to beat to NOT be tripped. I.E... trip DC 16, if they have less then 16 balance they fall. They might get +D20 to their balance score, like you do on a regular save, but you'd have to ask a pen and paper guy that. I'm really not sure.
