I read he had a heart attack in L.A. and is in a coma, not that he passed away.

Nope.. he's dead.. I'm wondering if Farrah Fawcett is gonna ambush him at the pearly gates with a shot to 'cones for stealing her thunder..

I'm a little nostalgic about his death. MJ was and is truly the original king of pop. It's such a shame to watch his decline over the last 15-20 years.
I hope his legacy will be remembered from when he was in his prime, instead of the last chapter of his life.
RIP MJ

You know you are a DDO nerd when you read the title of this thread and immediately thought of Prison of the Planes and thought "Huh!? Who was the king of POP?" (which i may or may not have done) I guess the answer would have been Bigole though?
But i digress, terrible news for all his family, friends and fans.

Today the world lost an Icon, someone who could have one day been the worlds ambassador of peace. He touched the lives of all nations and races. Through his music he fueled the imaginations of 3 generations, inspiring us all to want to be great one day. I myself as a child wanted to be Micheal Jackson and remember now on news of his death how much his music was a part of my life and shaped me into the person I am today. Thats not to say I totally dismiss all of the events during the later part of his life but I can not condemm a man on rumors and inconclusive court cases. None of us know for sure what was going on with him or around him for certain, but in death he deserves his peace. Build me a scale and weigh on one side everyone he has harmed in anyway and on the other those lives he has saved, then judge him.
For a while I had a theory going that he was actually some sort of vampire feeding off the blood of children and hiding from daylight but that seems sorta silly now.
I would like everyone to Consider your life personally and imagine every detail of it put under a microscope and published over every form of media (paper, internet, television and movies) and think of how others would view it. None of us are perfect or even close to perfect but we are lucky enough that people rarely take note of all of our flaws. Life would be very difficult to live under such scrutiny and I am thankful that I dont have to try.
For all the he has added to my life Micheal Jackson will be missed. The history books will surely reflect his larger contributions to music, charity, world peace, and the breaking down of cultural and racial barriers world wide and bury the rest of it with him.

I like seeing posts like this. Though he is not nearly significant to me as he ws to you. I do remember watching Thriller and loving it. I have the Album now He was pretty amazing though. I never paided attention to the media drama, though hes done many questionable things, hes no different then any other actor or singer, R Kelly, Mel Gibson, Britney Spears...Micheal Richards and OJ simpson (certainly the most questionable of most) media has a way of making you believe things that may or may not be true. Anyhow, Rest in Piece MJ and Farrah She was my first love >< I have most of the old charlies angels tv shows on dvd
And that guy from Kung Fu legend continues (**** his name escapes me) Carradine something... I rest my case.

I don't agree that anyone who pays an out-of-court settlement is guilty of whatever the underlying accusation was. If this line of reasoning were an accurate one, rather than a simplification used to paper over an unwillingness to consider alternate points of view, I wouldn't feel so bad about all the guys who take plea bargains because they can't afford legal representation.
I'll admit that I bought Thriller (I was a Van Halen fan and bought it specifically for the one track), but I don't think I listened to Beat It more than a few times. I don't count myself among his fans, but I feel bad for anyone who was a fan.

Have to agree with this one.
Used to be cool in the 70s / early 80s. Then he started getting really weird, then all the rest....
MJ was dead to a lot of us long before this.
Am saddened - just not quite as much as I am over Farrah's passing, or even Ed Mcmahon's.

An off-court settlement dosn't mean anything, and with all the stuff, there's NO proof that he actually did it. With all his stuff, and wierd things, he became an aesy target. He became a superstar and started to act strange, but how's that different to all the others who became superstars quickly and were not completely ready for it. I personally think he was innocent but now, it dosn't matter anymore, may he rest in peace.

well i am prety sure he was not only never convicted but the families that accused him of the charges later admitted it was made up and just wanted the money. but because it was settled in civil court no charges were pursued or filed thereafter.
if you had 1 billion dollars and someone tried to put you in jail for a long time would you pay .02 percent of your money to make it go away would you? you know you would . if you make 50k a year that would be like you paying 1000 dollars for a lawyer to represent you for any case you might get charged with. i know you would pay that for sure with out even giving a second thought . more realistically you would be paying 5000 for a lawyer right off the bat and add other fees and cost. that makes a charge as simple as a assault or possession charge(most common charges in America) be equivalent of at least 10 percent of your income. that's 500times more time more than MJ spent on his charges to go away than an avg person. relatively speaking. if your income is 25k per year that's 1000times more than MJ spent.EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE I BELIEVE EINSTEIN SAID THAT. money is no different the actual value of a cost is relative to how much you have to begin with. bottom line is avg person sees 22 million to make a case go away .they say OMG he did it or else he wouldn't pay so much. other millionaires and billionaires say glad to see that get taken care of end of story. its not worth the hassle just pay it off. one last analogy if you get a ticket for no seat belt (even though you did have it on) and its a 25 dollar fine will you pay it and move on with you like or fight to prove you innocents.
excuse any typos. i dont like to edit .

You got that right bud! I know.
I sort of had a feeling that MJ would die as a young guy,for one he did not take care of himself very well. Who knows what prescription drugs MJ was on and I imagine he was on quite a few. This guy was under a enormous amount of pressure from the age of what 5 Yrs old. A Kid who really never was able to be a kid and always had to put on a smile 24 hrs a day. He could not go anywhere without it being a big deal.
I also jumped on the hatter bandwagon because of all the media BS, but soon jumped off.. After hearing and reading how this entertainer, A Super mega Star had to live, and the way he grew up. Also everyone always wanted something from him and some.
U need to take into account that no one in the world had the Star Status as Michael Jackson, U think of the next super star and they don't even compare! or come close.
I was not a fan of his after the Jackson 5 split up and he started making his own music which I thought of as 2 ahhh for my liking, but I grew up in the 70's and 80's 90's which there was no one bigger and to this day there is still no one bigger and no one impacted music and entertainment the way he did.
Interesting how those of us that grew up in the 70's lost three prominent entertainers in one week..
