Out of nowhere, Big Dog becomes completely disinterested in the chewtoy and runs off at another character. Twice the new target party member was the cleric, and once it was me, on my wiz (I was posted there to watch for that very thing, as it had reportedly happened twice before). I can be certain that, at least in one case, there was no other CC or anything happening in the center as I made a point to watch very carefully. She just decided she didn't like the taste of the chew-toy.

I've been trying to figure it out what caused it, or if it was just a glitch. But since it's happened three times now, I'm starting to wonder if there is an aggro reset mechanism or something built into her AI. Twice it cause a fail, and once lead the the most epic recovery I've been a part of.
I was in one of those odd runs recently as well. I was on my cleric. Our chew toy was a wf so the two wizzys were on watch and I was running around with the kill team. I heard the wizzy kind of panic as the puppy lost interest in said chew toy and beelined for the wizzy. I immediately turned down a hall toward them dropped a few heals on him while the WF fighter regained aggro and we were all well again. It was so strange though as we had all the right setup going and there was no reason for the puppy to decide to taste the wizzy. Thankfully he had enough hp to survive while we fixed the little problem and I got to him to heal.

Wasn't sulu supposedly acting odd with intimidate also? Think doggy and master have the same issue as well as looks?

Chew toy may need to attempt to fight back a bit. I don't know.

Question for Shiz and Shy - when the Hound flipped aggro to attack you guys, were you in sneak mode per chance? I had this happen to my cleric last week and the only thing I could figure, was that the Hound "spotting" my poor sneak broke his AI routine so that he flipped aggro onto me. I know once I ran him back into the MT's SF he flipped back without issue. I hadn't even tossed a heal yet when this occurred.

Comment to Comf on the group that decided to gather together to purposefully tank raids. Weren't you a member of said group? Why in the world should we believe that this plan is "out of action" because of an obviously dismissive post like that one....

For MissingMinds, Sully often acts weird for no different reason than how intimidate is regularly bugged. Not sure how many intimitanks you play, but I have several, and Sully is far from alone. Intimidate just doesn't work, sometimes, even when your roll is successful. As a sidenote while we are talking about it - if you have diplomacy - dont use it when someone is intimidating. The diplo will break the aggro pattern and while he might not turn to you, he rarely turns back to the dude intimidating until the cooldown is up for the next one.

Reading comprehension is a wonderful thing Sam, you might wanna look into it. I have already posted that it was a big joke... I don't know if you have ever even played with me, I don't think you have. It was a huge joke started by Cold...duh? and besides, I put this elite run together to help some guildies get the shield on their clerics. I have never tried to make a group fail...like I said it was a huge joke...that sadly some people took it seriously.

    Default Just because

Even though I am far from a N00b in the Hound, I ALWAYS ask questions.

It seems every run is a tad different from the previous ones I have been on, and learning new tactics/techniques is never a bad thing.

Sometimes I ask questions just to hear the group leader squirm, which usually bodes well for a Raid Group

My 2 cp only, your milage may differ depending upon driving conditions.

Don't use a deception weapon either for same reason.

Nope... I wasn't hiding. Nobody else (other than clerics) was about who might have thrown diplo. My guesses are either: A) sometimes aggro is just bugged, or B) when solid fogs go out, the doggy's aggro drops and she finds a new target.

The last several Hounds I've been in , some of which were with Comf et al, we suceeded but had some narrow misses. A couple of things I've noticed from the perspective of a kill team member: More than once, someone tries to, and sometimes succeeds at, killing a dog right off the bat. Even though the whole party is screaming and typing "STOP ATTACKING THE DOG!" This is clearly either a new person who doesn't understand what we're doing, intentional griefing, or someone who's trying to do the two-dog method, even though the leader made it clear we're doing three dogs.

I've also seen a couple of things happen with the stones. Either the designated stone-grabber (usually the bard) does not keep up with kill team to grab stones or somone other than the designee grabs a stone and runs off, leaving the designee going "where's the stone?" and leaving the kill team undermanned (which isn't a huge deal usually but still...)

So yeah, if you're new to the raid, just ask questions BEFORE the final haste and go. Or if you aren't new to the raid, be sure you are clear on what method the group is using as there are variations depending on party make-up and difficulty level. The group you are in may do it a bit differently than you've done it and you may have a different role than you've had before.

I used to make fun of my old guild leader for the sermon he would give before each Hound raid but with what I've seen going on lately, it makes sense.
when I used to have a mic, I gave a pretty good sermon before hand.
It slightly irritated the guys I normally run with but the new people almost always send a tell saying thanks.

lol the pre-raid sermon is always a good idea and appreciated by new players and experienced alike. Just with some people their delivery makes it fun to poke fun at them. Not that I would ever poke fun at someone...
