Default Help with my stealthy, evasive wizard pls.

When I get a new character slot, the first thing I want to do is create a stealthy, evasive Warforged wizard. I hope I can get some help planning the build ahead of time in this thread. Here's what I'm planning:

    Name: Ginkgo (not taken yet)
    Warforged
    Wiz 18/Mnk 2

    Stats (unstanced):
Str 9 (8base+1tome)(+4bull's str if the load gets heavy)
    Dex 20 (13base+1tome+6boots)
    Con 24 (16base+1tome+1enh+6ring)
    Int 32 (18base+1tome+5levelups+3enh+6napkin)
    Wis 18 (11base+1tome+6necklace)
Cha 6 (+6helm if I need UMD to heal or res)

    Feats (will probably swap frequently):
    Insightful reflexes
spell focus, spell pen, mental toughness
    Metamagics free
Free monk feats: Toughness & lightning reflexes
    Wildcards: precision, weapon finesse

Enhancements - will change constantly, but probably to include:
    Way of the Clever Monkey
Disciple of Breezes, Pebbles, and Puddles
    Racial toughness II
    WF Con I
    Construct Thinking
    Wiz Int
    Energy of Scholar
Elemental Manipulation, Lineage of Elements, Lineage of Deadly Elements

    HP
    331 unstanced
    72 wiz
    16 mnk
    20 heroic
    20 minos
    20 racial
    30 GFL belt
    10 draconic
    23 toughness

    Saves:
    18/24/20 base
    25/32/27 buffed and stanced
    +1 v. traps
    up to +3 v. enchantments

    Spell Points:
    1892
    930 wiz
    80 magical training
    297 int
    410 mental toughness&imp mental toughness
    175 tier 2 goggles

    AC:
    36 beholder AC I think
    10 base
9 composite plating w/ DT docent
    5 dex
    4 wis
    5 deflection
    1 monk
    2 chaosgaurd (in bank)

    45 self-buffed
    5 shield
    1 haste
    3 barkskin
(oh well, it's not an AC build, at least I'll be displaced)

    BAB: don't ask

    Loadout:
helm - minos (swap to +6 Cha for UMD)
    neck - +6 wis
goggles - eventually greensteel (situationally divine power clickies)
    trinket - voice
    armor - eventually DT docent
    cloak - eventually napkin
wrist - chaosgaurd? open to suggestions here
    belt - GFL
    ring 1 - +6 Con
ring 2 - resistance (swap to ff)
    boot - +6 Dex
Glove - ??? open to suggestions

Progression: monk at level 1 and 7

    Default Why Monk, not Rogue

I don't want to be like everyone else.

Monks don't wear armor, Wizards don't wear armor.

    Monks get:
    2 free feats
    better saves
    better ac
can adjust their stats using stances
Way of the Clever Monkey gives a save bonus against traps, and inlcudes the elemental resistance
    can meditate

    Monks can't:
open traps (but why bother when you have evasion)
open locks (but wizards can sometimes knock)
sneak attack (but I will use magic to do damage)
UMD is not a class skill (but mine will eventually get high enough to heal or res)
    sadly, I won't get a skill boost
Trap awareness is better for saves than Way of Clever Monkey

I guess there are tradeoffs; I just want to be different.

The toughest monsters to spot in subterrane take a minimal spot of 28 to see. High end quests are more or less the same on normal. That also happens to be the target for hide/ms. Your build should have no problem reaching those targets. Those numbers will of course go up with quest difficulty, but with that high wisdom score and monk levels I suspect that wont be a problem getting spot and stealth up to par for elite.

Run the demon queen a lot. The dustless boots are great for this kind of build.
My Videos Shadow Mage (ok, it's a build now)
A forum post should be like a skirt - long enough to cover the subject material, but short enough to keep things interesting.
Britches and Hose kidnapped my dog and are forcing him to farm Shroud ingredients.

    Default The Target?

Maybe this is a newb question: What do you mean by 'the target'?

I thought for hide/ms higher is better.

Nope. Much like the diplomacy/intimidate checks on NPCs have all-or-nothing values (such as in the Crucible to get the map, have the hobgobs betray each other, etc.), the stealth skills have all-or-nothing values as well vs. the various monsters. Either you get it to a point where you can't be seen/heard, or you are seen/heard.

Default Not sure I follow you

For my tank, I am still trying to keep intimidate at the maximum ranks. We don't know what the target for future content will be. I won't stop putting points in just because I can get the Momma Dog's attention without fail.

I would take the same attitude to hd/ms I think.

28 is the current high water mark? Is that on elite and for which mob?

Isn't there a chance the DM will change the difficulty later, as they seem to have done for some traps (Cabal)?

Without the chance for a skill respect, I would hate to come up short.

28 is the water mark of the Subterrane area. 45 Move Silently is among the highest water mark I can remember, which is of Sannyasi in Monastery of the Scorpion.
