Abbot Guide wanted

Hey guys. After 2 years in game, I've finally got my first abbot ready toon, a 16 WF sorc. I've seen LFM's for Abbot up like twice in the past year. I was wondering if anyone would like to run it for kicks. I wouldn't expect to finish it (although that would really be cool if we did), but would really like to see what the quest is like after going through all the pre-reqs.

Is anyone aware of an Abbot walk through? Lost Leader's Guide doesn't have one.

On a side note, I think I achieved the quickest, dumb move death for abbot. I entered solo just to check it out. Seeing the blue glowing floor ahead, I thought maybe I'll fall through that. It would be better to walk on the solid ground on the sides of the blue floor. DING, boiling water death. Release. Repair. Reenter. Try the blue floor this time. Forgot to buff up. Enter center. The abbot appears. Running and jumping around like a WF from a gaggle of Rust Monsters, attempting to buff myself quickly while reconstructing. DING!

Abbot is still unbeatable thanks to loving devs. I believe some have/can beat it, but in an unorthodox way. I think/hope it's gonna get fixed in mod9 finally.

I believe there is 1 guild in japan that has a legit abbot completion.

Other than that all you are gonna get is the um "unintended feature" way as the users of it prefer to call it.

Abbot is comlitable I think there are some guilds on your server that does it or I am msitaking? Might be Ghalanda btw. The ways its complited aren't as intended I beleave but get the job done. Anyways a grpoup of 8-12 people that will be there all the time will most likely garantee some progress. people must remember that they must be patient. You cant be blaming people for mistakes cause nobody will want to try it. So grab your guildies or some more that dont mind dying and try to work it. You can posibly look up the puzzles on youtube so you all kind of get an idea of whats really gonna happen. Anyways good luck and don't give up. Learn how to use the ice wands after you complete that would save alot of recourses etc. If you have any specific questions shoot me a tell............we all know how its done LOL

I understand there are a few people out there in DDO land who believe the "unorthodox" way of completing the Abbot is "cheating" or "abusing the program" or FILL IN THE BLANK.

I would like to remind those individuals IF Turbine felt the raid and the tactics were abusive or the raid was broken, Turbine would have shut down the raid a long time ago and would have fixed it. >>>>>> (Shroud)

As it is, Turbine has allowed the raid to remain "open" (with a few tweaks here and there) and the few souls who choose to run it continue to expend excessive amounts of gold pieces on repairs and SP pots.

Also, not all Abbot raids are successful (just like other raids) and if they are, they aren't guaranteed raid loot.

I've heard about the "unorthodox way" of completing. I'm not looking for that. I was just hoping to experience a little of the quest. Patiently waiting for Mod 9, I've started running a lot of the quests that I've skipped leveling up toons (ie Thernal South, some of those desert quests, Ataraxia quests, House K quests where maid to order is, etc.). That's how I was able to complete my sigil, as I was capped before I even tried a quest in the Orchard. Now that I've finally gotten through all that, and the 4 accursed assention paths, I'd love to just see a little of what the capstone quest is about. Completion or no, Cheese or No Cheese, was just hoping to step in and look around (and survive more than 30 seconds).

If anyone's interested, experienced or not, shoot me a PM or send a tell to Chalaad in-game.

Shroud was shut down because of player griefing not because of player exploits. There is no precedent set that Turbine shuts down a raid or quest if people are exploiting it - they are only exploiting themselves after all.

Good news is your a wf caster so any Abbot lfm will take you.
Bad news is they will all be using... as you put it... "unorthodox way"
Also it is the most boring quest in the game, your are missing nothing.

I do enough standing around waiting when I have to go run errands in RL....I'm not about to do it in a game for a piece of raid loot or to cap my favor. And the fact we have people telling people what raid loot they can loot(at least in the LFMs on Sarlona) itself is rather funny(oh they also say be willing to learn....learn what exactly...how to wait?). I know some of the puzzles can be done legit...and I say to each thier own....but I just don't see the value in any of it.

In my past experiences albeit short amount of completions, the raid leaders are very fair in handing out loot.

As you rack up the completions, the raid leader will take your "time in service".

To increase your value on the raid, you have to contribute (learn the puzzles, assist in raising people), want to learn and continue to run with the group.

If you want to run the Abbot, you will find ways to run it.

If you don't, you won't.

As the OP said, "to each his own".

Besides if you don't like the raid you can choose to do something else because there is SO MUCH content now in the game.......

And it was my opinion that the Shroud was closed due to looting the pt 5 chest without going on timer. The greif was peeps that wanted completions, but couldn't get them.

Ah I was on extended leave for AoC during that one so I can't comment as to if you are right about it or not.

So, you and a group of 6 people are going to put in hours and hours of time into learning the abbot. and then you invite pugs into the group and you have melee kopesh spec rangers taking the staff of petitioner or even better yet, lawful aligned clerics taking the trinket... Or pierce specced barbarians taking the enduring conviction.

You mean to tell me, you aren't going to have a leader loot system? Where the leader gets to say who can take what?

You've got to be out of your mind. Go back to running the other 5 raids and keep your forum flaming to yourself.
