Angry Heal me! Heal me! Heal me!

Last night I clicked to join a party that was looking for a healer and received a tell back from the party leader asking if I had wands (Assuming healing wands). When I replied back and asked why, he told me that they only wanted to take a healer that had enough wands. (The best part was this was a Warforged Barb.)

Really? Is this a normal request?

In my opinion, if a party can not run a quest successfully without having to rely on constant wand healing then they are probably not capable enough to be running said quest.

Maybe this is why so few people actually enjoy rolling up Clerics.

That is most definitely not a normal request. Lots of classes can use wands, it shouldnt be up to the cleric to use/supply all of them.

Upon getting that sort of quick inquiry I would have personally a) found a reason to drop, or b) asked if they knew they were that poor of a group that wands would be needed? (Might well have used more colorful descriptors and "poor" however)

No this is not normal, but alas does happen, especially in certain circles.

lol... did you ask him how many repair serious pots he was carrying? because you certainly wouldn't want to put the rest of the party at risk due to some cheap wf bar sucking up all the cleric's SP and wands.

In a situation like this, you ask the leader "seriously?!?" and if he responds yeah, don't join and solo the quest. Then tell him you ran it by yourself and didn't need wands

Clerics should never be expected to babysit. And if someone keeps saying "heal me, heal me, heal me", you're best to let them die and carry them to the shrine. It's better for your resources/sanity that way.

if the question is "do you have enough wands?" the answer is "i have all the wands you guys buy for me." i mean come on! pally's, rangers, bards, and every umd build out there should be wand whipping. cleric healing via wands should be along side all of the rest or as a choice to use his blue bar for other things.

Well, I guess since I took the name "Babysitter" for my Cleric as a joke, some people actually take it literally.

let that player die and leave their stone in a remote place withen the quest, let him/her know that its just better that way and you hate your relationship had to end that way.

or leave thier stone close to a mob, res him/her,,,,,,, dont heal them though, pull the mob back and deplom them so they get him instead.

The proper response in such a situation is:

"I'll have as many wands as you guys are going to supply me. Do YOU have enough wands for this quest?"

If I'm on my Wiz and run VoD, I take the spell. If I group with a WF and asks if I can bring it, I will, but I also remind him that I'm not a cleric.

When I read this I think I just "****ed in my pants..."

    TOO funny!

I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I don’t think you realize that what you heard was not entirely what I meant.

Clerics in weak pugs can never win:
    "You can't heal fast enough!"
"Its your fault we failed this quest you can't heal good enough!"
"How come you have manna left and Im still dead?"
"How come you wasted all your manna?"

I have heard all of these (all in the same quest once) makes you want to laugh or cry. My responses are normally queit reserved ala "Sorry you feel that way.". I think next time I should snap back with...

"You have too manny freaking hit points and too little DPS, AC and damage reduction!"
"My fault we failed? Their are 5 other people playing this quest too!"
"This is the trash mobs that are kicking your butts or the optional I warned you not to try and tackle, we need to save some for the real fight around the corner."
"I was just trying to keep you alive and watch your health now when it really matters their is nothing left."

Personally, I think the proper response is:

    /ignore

But that's just me being a cranky SOB.

No thanks - at low levels, I'll use wands on people as they're all I got. Once you hit 10-11, start forking over Heal/Reconsruct scrolls.

personally I always have wands and usually if there is a melee WF in party I have at least Rep Ser. If they are the main tank or a bar then I'll grab recon. either way I make certain to tell them that I suck as a cleric and if they are low on hp to pop a potion, turtle up, and mention it in voice chat. truth hurts maybe but it's cheaper than the cost of repairing gear.
