So...you'll roll against a caster for the Bracers of the Glacier, then?

[QUOTE=Ditto when it was raid leaders handing out warding stones.
    [/QUOTE]

I miss the days when the leader of the group had control of this sort of thing. Even in Pugs I think it was better. Don't like the way your raid went? Then don't join there party. It put more pressure on those that do roll on everything, or take items they really don't need. If the warding stones were there in this situation, the raid leader would have either said, "These are for the rouge", or "Anyone wants them roll". Me, in a PUG, if I get the item and my toon can use it, meaning the item is perferct for my build, I will just take it. The necklas dropped for my cleric to my cleric. I did not ask for a roll, it was a pug. Had it been a guild run or a static group I would have, but the best necklace in the game just dropped on the only toon I have that can use it. Why would I give that up? Bring back the stones ;P

there were also frequent cases where leader looted both items as well as leader passing loot straight to guildies and friends

both ways have the pros and cons. however i rather i choose not to be screwed of my loot (note: if the loot drop for someone else, you did not get screwed because the name on the loot is not yours)
If you want to know why...

Trust me I know the pains of Pugging with the raid leader calling the shots. I have seen many cases of people being worked over by the raid leader, but at least it only happend to you once. Though you are right. If it did not drop for you, then you really can not complain too much about not getting it. I have lost out to item due to freinds or greedy people. It is a game. Shake it off, and do it again.

Exactly, It is only out of kindness and consideration those who pull the loot put it up for roll or pass it off to others... It bloody really is their loot, When they pass it off now belongs to another person much as a gift. I have the crapiest rolls when people put things up roll ... but I in no way feel slighted nor envious of those who win the roll - even if it is something I been grinding and chasing for 80+ runs ... Why? well I should be happy for whoever received the loot... so what, it was not I, but at least someone got something out of it.

I agree with many of the posts here. I used to constantly toss gear up for roll. I still do even when I might get use out of it. Icerage has given up 6 tumbleweed rings. I wont pass it off to anyone who tosses a tell the moment I pull the loot though. I got sick of that. But I like most will give to friends or guildies first.

As to the googles it does benifit any melee toon. I will always take it or roll on it. If I pull it on a melee you bet I am taking it.

Are you really saying that not even a little part of you would be upset if I (as a cleric, or caster) pulled a tank item and just looted it without giving you an option to roll just so I could sell it to the barkeep?

Somehow I doubt that. It's human nature to hope. And it's also human nature to be disappointed or upset. That's all I was getting at. I get that the item dropped under some one elses name. And I even get that some bards do help heal so the necklace COULD be beneficial. I'd have felt much better about the outcome had the bard said "I really need this", "I could use this", or (what I was hoping for) "I'll roll you for it" ... Had I lost a roll, oh well... that sucks for me. But what was said was "Eh, I'll take it" Like "Meh, I dont really need it, or want it... But I know that YOU do... so I'll just go ahead and loot it and to h3ll with you"

That was all I was getting at.

We should make up a server convention for that case.

On several occasions, I've seen loot taken "to be sold to the vendor, since no one expressed interest"... while people were drooling over the loot but holding their tongues to be polite.

I hate selling raid loot to vendors. If I dont need it it goes up for roll everytime. That never changes. But when I get bombarded with tells before Ive even decided if or in some cases seen I what I had pulled its uncalled for. I see it the most in hound. Every tumbleweed I pull you get swamped with tells. I dont sell raid loot or take offers. As Ive said if I dont need it it will go up for roll.

i used to feel that way but no more. i learn to let it go a little more, sadness and bitterness doesnt do anything. moreover its a piece of virtual loot. sure you can doubt all you want but if i set myself a rule for others to respect that i do what i want to do with my loot and yet feel bitter and sad when others take away a tank item, aint that being hypocritical?

what you described is not human nature, what you described is human BEHAVIOUR. behavior CAN BE altered
