Greetings from 2 new players

Hello Argonnessen. I am new to DDO but I think I will be spending a good amount of time here. My wife and I recently let our subscription to Warhammmer end. The lag and class balance issues really drove us from that game. We looked around for another mmo but there are painfully few that seem to get our interest. We tried out LotRO for a few nights but struggled to deeply immerse ourselves in the middle earth setting.

We thought of trying out DDO when it first launched but we were still enjoying NWN1 on an arena server called Bastions of War. The Eberron campaign setting was sort of unknown and Faerun was dear to our hearts. So we stayed away. We eventually left NWN1 and were playing our own thing (civ4 and bf2142 mostly) till Warhammer came along.

So far we are really enjoying DDO. It somehow feels just right to us. One of the drawbacks of having the content instanced is that it separates us from the gameworld a bit. The server community on these forums seemed like a good fit so we decided to roll on Argonnessen. We know as we level up we will want to run with more than just us as a duo. We looked around at the recruitment posts but it was hard to get a feel for who is active and what the guilds are like.

We are looking for a group of 30+ year olds that are passionate about DDO. We especially enjoy playing with other couples. We tend to take our time and immerse ourselves in the environment the first one or two runs through a dungeon, but then tend to speed up to enjoy the challenge and focused gameplay.


I am playing a dwarven cleric named Cyence Stonekeeper my wife is playing a Halfling ranger named Temi Goodleaf. We are currently lvl 1 or 2. Our main play times are 9-midnight EST. See you around.

Welcome to Argo. Is a great server and you will find many guilds who will be willing to play with you (and recruit you) but you may have to experiment with several to find the best fit. I was in 3 guilds before I landed in the one I have stayed with for about 3 years now.

welcome to the land of the dragons i hope that you have been treated well by the good people of stormreach, its a good idea to list your play times when looking for people to group with and dont be afraid to put up an lfm when your serching for that rogue or caster to help fill the party. Hope you have fun with DDO. Its a great game.

If you'll permit, I would like to give one bit of advice.

Starting out in DDO can be a challenge because there seem to be two types of people running new characters right now.

The first type are the player who have been around a long time, who know all the quests and are mostly just interested in getting the max XP in the shortest possible time in order to get to the end game.

The second group are the people who are either new to the game and still learning the quests, or maybe want to get a slower-paced experience.

Both are fine, but they don't mix so well.

I would recommend that you not be afraid to start a group and clearly address YOUR expectations in the LFM message. "Let's explore and learn" or "Zergers welcome!!"

The first couple of time running the early quest chains (Water Works, Halls of Shan-to-Kar, Tangleroot, and Delera's) can be really, really fun.
