VIP Downgrade to Free F.A.Q.

How do leveling sigils work? If I buy one month of VIP, does that eliminate the need (permanently) for sigils for all characters currently existing? That is, can I create some 20-30 characters, buy one month of VIP, and then never need to worry about sigils for those characters?

I'm currently stuck at level 12. I already bought a silver sigil. I've been playing alts waiting for the sigil to go on sale, and soon they may reach their cap too. I wonder if this might be a way to 'unlock' and bypass this silly sigil system.

No, VIP to premium would not open all created characters to 20. It would allow you to level them as far as you want/can while VIP with no sigils. Once going to premium, you would then be restricted by whatever cap you are under.

I.E. You go VIP and create 2 new characters. 1 you level to level 7 in a month and then go premium. You did not need a copper sigil to advance beyond 4. However, to go past level 8, you will now need a silver sigil. The other character you get to level 9 without sigils. He will be able to advance to 12 without any issue. If you want to go beyond, you'll need the next sigil.

How long does it take for the VIP to re-activate after you buy the upgrade again? Buying it for the first time was near instant if i remember correctly, but I just re-bought it a few hours ago and it the upgrade still isn't showing up, any ideas?

Dunno if this has been addressed before. Imagine the following (perhaps not too rare) setup:
You play on a F2P account. You keep gettng Turbine points via Favor. Moreover you buy turbine points and use them too unlock 2 particular quests and a Favored Soul (after buying stuff you are upgraded to a premium account).
Now you switich to VIP for two months (guess why?). When entering VIP you have 600TP left, and come in with two unlocked Quests and unlocked Favored Soul.
After two months you downgrade - as I understand not to F2p but to Premium (4 char slots and so on as was stated above)

So here comes the big question:

Will I still have acccess to:
a) the chracter type unlocked prior to the VIP upgrade (in my example the Favored Soul I payed for)
b) the Turbine Points bought prior to the VIP upgrade (assuming I didnt use them up during VIP)
c) or will I - by downgrading - go back to "Zero" and loose all the stuff bought prior to my VIP upgrade.

Some calrification on this would be nice

With the upcoming release of +10 shared bank slots, coming the 30th, what happens if you purchase them as a VIP and then downgrade to F2P? I have a good guess, but want to ask the question anyways....

I'd guess (since testing would take a month) that you keep the +10 but can't use it unless you purchased the regular shared bank slots as premium or become VIP again

I was like others,I bought DDO at launch and paid $45. I played it for several months but due to problems I cancelled.

So basically my extra money only got me a extra character slot? Since when do those cost $45?

You say VIP's get 500 points a month,I'm fine with that BUT what about those of us that actually bought the original game?

Will we ever get xtra points to compensate or are we basically sol?

I understand what you are saying but you bought a product, used it for a few months then stopped using it for what ever reason. Thats not Turbines fault. You do, as an ex subscriber, get things that F2P players dont, i.e. extra character slots, chat options, etc., but in terms of a $45 worth of stuff, no.

If you were an active subscriber at some predetermined time, I cant remeber when end of July possibly, you got Turbine Points according to when you first purchased the game and how much u participated in the Beta of the Free to Play rollout. This rewarded actively testing, playing and playing customers.

If it makes you feel any better, you could have receieved the same exact "bunuses" if you renewed your subscription before the end of July and not been subscribing the entire 3+ years to the game.

Only if you've purchased them with TP. If you started off as VIP and then go premium, you loose access to those areas that are p2p.

You'd be locked out of that character until you bought monk from the store.

I just cancelled my second (mule) account's subscription, as I see no sense in continue paying a monthly fee for what I can get for free.

I had planned on doing this ever since they added F2P, but I wanted to 'earn' enough Turbine Points to be able to unlock all of my Mules. I now have plenty...

So, my account is now pending termination as of February 7th.

My question is on February 8th (or 7th I guess depending on how they do it) how do I 'change' to Free to Play? OR on that date will there be an option to go Free to Play that I currently do not see, as my account is still active?

I don't think you do anything. After your subscription expires, it should automatically convert to F2P.

its always per server....so yeah 4 slots per server that is if u r premium(anytime u spend money u become premium)

When I was a VIP my character was in Delver's Canteen in the Ruins of Threnal area. Now that I'm premium and haven't bought Threnal, I can still sign in to the character -- but it wants me to pay for the Adventure Pack before it will let me outside of the tavern!

I just want to go back to a F2P area like the Marketplace. Is there a way to do that?

Talk to the guy sitting near the bar, pay him some plat and he'll teleport you to house P.
