    Default Favored Soul?

Not familiar with this class, so I'll ask. Is the Favored Soul relate to Clerics much like Sorcerer's are related to Wizards?

I'm thinking that if they follow different rules, but cast the same spells as a Cleric, this may be the easiest "New Unanounced Class" to put together.

    Anyone familiar with this class?

An older WotC article about them can be found here.

In response to your Sorc:Wiz = FS:Clr question, that's a basic yes, but there's a bit more to it than that.

"The favored soul is similar to a cleric, but they may cast divine spells they know spontaneously, similar to a Sorcerer. They also acquire characteristics similar to their patron deity, such as expertise in their deity's favored weapons, and eventually grow wings. Favored Soul is one of the few classes with three good saves."

That is what i found. Sounds ok i guess. Im jsut hoping, hoping, hoping that the new class isnt artificer. How dumb is an artificer? look them up. they get to make wands...wow and technical stuff...wow. You can buy wands, so no big whoop there, everyone can eventually craft so nothing there as well. there are so many better classes than artificer ---warlock, necros, warlord, truenamers, warblades etc....

But we have no choice we play what they give us

    In short, yes.

But, the Favored Soul does know more spells compared to the Sorc (but still less than a Cleric).

Also, the casting stat for Favored Souls is a bit more complicated. The stat for bonus spells is Wisdom, but the stat for DCs is Cha (or vice versa).
Hi, I play Generic Fantasy RPG Online, formerly known as DDO.

Artificers are also rogue types that can disable traps. And with the dragon mark of making have access to cannith wand adept PrE that let you dual wield wands.

Going beyond that, they create permanent magical items like goggles with see invisibility, or gloves that can cast heal.

And warforged. They can actually have enhancements cast on them from artificers.

Oh... And UMD is a class skill.

    Artificers have their place.

It's vice-versa. Wis for DC, Cha for spells/day.

Unless you're an Illumian with the AeshKrau Power Sigil in which case it's Str for spells/day

I'm still wondering how Favored Soul would affect the Cleric class.

I've got a capped Cleric and I don't change my spells out all that often. Plus, I've got a ton of spells that I very rarely use.

If FaveSoul can cast twice as fast with twice as many spellpoints, will there be any reason to roll a cleric?
You may know me as: Gannot, Gonnet, Gunnet, Ginnet, Gaxxat, Gennot, Gannut, Gxnnxt, Horseface, Izzayhay, Pailmaster, Artifactual, Gynnet and/or Barred. What? I like alts.

Hard to say. Will depend how they imp them.

I will say that the things in PnP that make clerics clearly superior to FS are missing in DDO (easy access to Divine PrC's, access to ridiculous Divine Feats, and Domains) so the only things I can think of are:

1 lvl behind Clr in Spell Acquisition (not too bad)

No Heavy armor out of the gate. (hurts for melee FS)

Only simple weapons out of the gate unless they give them their choice for their "deity's" weapon. (hurts for melee FS)

    No DV's/Turns (meh)

Should be interesting. I'll roll one.

I vehemently disagree with you here. While out of combat, Artificers do get to craft permanent magical items, they also cast the most overpowered buffs in the whole game.

Imagine, for instance, if everyone's Greensteel weapons in shroud also became Greater Evil Outsider bane and Greater Lawful Outsider Bane for the raid. And Vorpal. And Wounding of Puncturing. All at the same time. Artificers in PnP can do this, and much more.

The fact that they have massive UMD like a bard and can disable traps is cool, but not the primary role of the class.

    ************

Consider how a paladin multiclass would affect a Favored Soul. Martial Weapon Proficiency, Heavy Armor Proficiency, your spellcasting stat added to saving throws? A battlecleric's dream!
