I think that mouse probbably has the most buttons programable... but not certain on the feel. I know I didn't like the feel of it, but I know i could have gotten used to it.

Yeap, I did warn that I was abusive on keyboards.
I used to use the G15 (newer version) but I started to get wrist pain from playing to much and had to go back to a natural for a time. (gaw.. what I wouldn't give for a gaming natural keyboard. Ghosting issues SUCK.) So my wife got my G15 after she toasted her G15 with a glass of milk. *sigh* She's drowned 2 or 3 keyboards in the time we've been together... and I'm the abusive one?
i have an older razor mouse, the death adder i think, and i have been really pleased with it. so much so i bought a new mic from razor as well. no issues whatsoever, and i have been over clicking that sucker for years.
keyboard is the mech steel series, jury is still out on that one

I use the MX Revoultion mouse and find that it does not interact well with DDO. Occassionally, the pointer gets "jumpy" which makes targeting for my caster difficult. This could be a driver issue though.
Shouldn't be a problem. I just fingertipped the mouse and it worked fine. It has long right and left mouse buttons and its length is adjustable via a motorized control, so you should be able to set it up comfortably. Pretty slick.
I hate the cord. Its the one downfall of the mouse, but the button controls won out over the cord for me. Wireless and it would be perfect for my usage.

ROFL.
I am thinking of picking up a G19 to try out. I am just waiting for it to get to my Best Buy, so I can return it if I don't like it or think it is a waste of money. I like the idea of the full color LCD right there that will have Linux based apps that are created by users. Will have to see it in action for a bit. It should hit the Best Buy shelves real soon here, as Logitech has finally released it full up.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm not much further along my decision making process (in fact, I might be further away than when I started), but I have some new things to think about and quite a bit of second hand experience to draw from.

Ok since Ive done some extensive research and have bought several of the higher end mice out there right now Ill give you my take on the ones I have.
First I highly recommend the RAZER products. I have the Razer Death Adder and the the Razer Lachesis both are top notch mice with great DPI and the Lachesis has two side buttons on each side of the mouse where the Death Adder only has the two on the left side. However for my comfort I prefer the DA of the two (the Lachesis has a fairly low profile and is kind of unsettled in my hand, tends to slip about a bit). As for the Saitek Cyborg mouse i found that even with the customability of it I found that it completely mutilated my thumb and was extremely uncomfortable (not recommended at all but to each his own). One thing I did find though with any of the mice with more then the two side buttons the DDO client will not recognize them as viable mouse buttons and have to be set up as Macros in the respective mouse software and key bindings made in game to correspond to your macros. As a avid gamer myself I would also not suggest running a wireless mouse because you can suffer slight delays in response and you run into the obvious power issues WHEN the battery runs out. If you do any decent amount of gaming you should consider wired or at least a mouse that can be either.
As a side note if you happen to be looking into a keyboard also I would suggest Razers Lycosa keyboard. Its a back lit programmable keyboard that I personally find to be quite comfortable.
Just an update and final word.
I ended up going with the Sidewinder. I found a good deal online, and so far it has been an excellent choice. Buttons are highly programmable and it jives with DDO just fine. Response feels good (too good on 4000 DPI), as do the ergonomics (though the wife complains it's too big... as usual ). I really like being able to easily plug in the power cord for charging while I'm playing. (It's actually quite ingenious, a little magnetic pad that sticks to the front/underside and charges the mouse while you work/play.)
I was wary of the Cyborg since I couldn't find one to get a feel for hand position and it looked like it might not be a good fit for my hand.
I looked at Razer products, but they were the most expensive. And it looked like I was paying for DPI , which since I only play DDO, isn't my main concern. They do look cool and comfy, though.
I preferred the Up/Down orientation of the side buttons on the Sidewinder to the G9, otherwise it would have been my next choice.
