Default A way to make new content last longer...

How about this type of mechanic for spreading out new content so it lasts a while longer. Tie a series of quests loosely together, with the following caveat. The mystic/runic/whatever entrance to quest 2 will only unlock after someone on the server has completed quest 1 and started the unlock timer.

Right now they have a quest timer mechanic in place to repeat various raids and a global broadcast of raid success method as well. So what this would do, is whenever anyone on the server completes quest 1, it triggers a server wide unlocking of the timer for quest 2 and receives a server wide broadcast reflecting that success. Some period of time later, it could be a few days, or even a week later, the portal to Quest 2 is now accessible to everyone on the server. Rinse and repeat with quests 3 and 4, etc. You now have some weeks of quest anticipation and planning, based on the first parts and can make the new content be new for more than 24 hours.

Make completing the quests in sequence open of a nice end reward (kind of like finishing VONs), or the Litany series, but give each quest a decent reason for being run on its own as well (reasonable chests or some token of some nature that can be turned in ala BAM or Invaders). (Lots of people would run VON3 repeatedly if they could I suspect.) Perhaps to open quest 2, someone in the party needs to have the end token from Quest 1 to activate the portal (or at least the proper quest completion setting in their favor log.)

I think what might be easier is just to time release content. On the first day of a release you get an adventure zone. After each week at least one quest opens up.

This gives a better impression of a steadily evolving world and keeps excitement of a release at a steady pace instead of the current massive elation followed by a drastic anti-climax.

I second this idea, only problem I see with weekly updates, are the possibility for issues/bugs to arise every week. I suppose either way you look at it problems could arise, but I am for a constant stream of weekly quests.

It would not be a weekly update. We would still get a monthly update but the content in the update would be on a timer.

Bzzt! To do that, there would have to be more than ONE quest in an update.

From a programming perspective I'm pretty sure it's easier to set something like this up with weekly update instead of a timer built into the program to allow access to material.

From your pov, all of the entrances and everything would be there, but you'd get an annoying "content not released yet" message when you clicked on the entrance. I'm sure you can imagine the type of kvetching that would go on when people found the 2nd week content entrances.

Ill be darned. You actually made a post about an idea you wished to see brought into DDO...

You even followed it with sound rationalization. I had to go to the first of all 11 posts you started, to find it. But its there. and you win my challenge I gave you. Perhaps in the subsequent 4,500+ replies to other people threads... you can see fit to promote another "wonderful" idea that could make sense.... regardless if the current game isn't ready yet.

I have hope for you. Do me proud!

(p.s.: the other ten posts was complaints and fixes.... try to make a positive idea again.)
