    Always remember the motto:

Salute, Execute, Move out and Draw fire......everything else is gravy.

Where are you headed to basic? I was at Ft Lost in the Woods seemingly forever ago. If there is a living hell, that is what I would expect it to look like.

You may hate your Drill Sergeant, but if you listen to what he has to say, basic is a breeze.

OP, congrats on picking the finest branch of the US armed forces. Don't let anyone tell you differently. Basic training and AIT is a wonderful experience, enjoy it for what it is. I will spare you advice since you probably had enough advice on it to do you good.

Although you did not mention where you are going for basic, I am assuming Ft. Benning. That is where I went for mine, great place. It does get hot there though!

I haven't been on for a long time. Just haven't felt like logging in to do the same few quests, especially when nearly all the guildies I used to play with aren't around anymore. It's probably been 4 months since I last logged in.

Gl milli loved my time in basic trying to get back in the service again myself. Dare ya to step in the kill zone if your unit has em you'll know what i mean if/when you see one in your barracks. Was at Ft Jackson in July-October 2000 and would give anything to go back. 31U Signal Support Systems Specialist Mass Army Nat Guard trying to reenlist now with the Navy long family history with both Army and Navy be nice to be part of both.

Yep Ft. Benning. Then for AIT I go to Ft. Rucker for Air Traffic Control training. My total training is 25 weeks and 1 day (basic + AIT), then I get to choose where I want to get stationed, provided there is a spot for my MOS available there of course.

I'm pretty excited, only thing I'm nervous about is showering with other men and the gas chamber, although I'm sure the chamber won't be as bad as I think it will be, but I'm sure that showering with other men will be worse than I think it will be. heh

You will be awake upwards of 20 hours a day the whole time, you will be lucky if you get even 4 hours sleep a day. You will be too sore and tired to care about showering with other men. The gas chamber is not as bad as some make it to be, it is CS gas. The same stuff they spray on protestors. It is nothing, most adjust to it rather quickly.

It's true. I got an extra 30 minutes of sleep in boot camp because I stayed in the chamber the longest.... 15 minutes. My lungs hurt like hell but I just pretended I was at a night club and it was cigarette smoke. One word of warning... DON'T TOUCH ANY PART OF YOUR BODY! It burns like hell when you do.

Keep your head straight and your mouth shut. Good luck!

He could be going to Fort Dix, I tell you how silly the Army is I went to the Army and they acceptted my Air Force training for both basic and AIT the one made sense(AIT) but not basic Air Force basic is a joke but they took it. That being said I had a wonderful time at Fort Dix getting my shots and uniforms to go back in the military it was fun telling off the silly corprals who thought I was a basic trainie when I was a seragent myself, first day we got our uniforms and shots like all basic trannies and didnt get our rank put on our uniforms until that afternoon.
