I do have to say that I normally don't care what armor looks like, I am 95% of the time covered in barkskin anyway, but I pulled my first set of +5 Mithril BP and put it on my fighter / pally / rogue back in mod5 and said 'Oh, my butt looks huge in this armor!'
My wife (non player) though that was the best comment I've ever made while playing.
But seriously, that armor would have made Sir Mixalot blush... huge I tell you.
