    Default Help Chat Tab

I know this has been brought up before but I still think it might be a good idea to at least consider. The idea is a help tab inserted right in all players chat window at creation.

On Eve, which I played awhile ago they had a similar system in place. From trial account to payed account you start out with the tab right there. Easy to use and was always the first tab that was open each time you logged in.

This idea would be much simpler than typing in /join help channel or whatever. That is too complicated to not only a MMO vet but more so with people who have never played an MMO before. It is more user friendly across the board. It would function like any other tab in the chat window like general, guild or party chat tab.

After 30 days or so the tab would dissolve and be removed automatically but at any time can be ininstalled. Put a small link in the Help Panel at top of it when you open it to appear in the page that simply clicking on the link will restore if back, if you want. Or if you accidently remove it. Sending the player an auto in-game email of its removal and how to restore it after 30 days is a good idea as well.

    Suggestions?

Mod 9 will add an advice channel which is turned on by default for all new characters. It will be accessed by using /a

We will have to wait to see where it appears and in what chat window.

/a is fine but seems less useful than the tab itself just being there by default when logging in.

We dont know if it will be on a separate tab or not yet. The two new channels were announced and I questioned how to access advice and whether it would be a default. I was told yes it would be a default channel and to access it use /a. I had not thought to ask if it was on it's own tab. Hopefully Tolero will answer here when she gets back into work.

From what I recall from the Preview, advice was showing up in general.. I don't recall checking but I'm guessing it would be checkable for the other tabs as well as the User channels are now..I don't recall it being a seperate tab in the preview but that could change at release..

Since you played LOTRO, you should know how it is. It displays in general chat, not in a different tab.

Not LOTRO, Eve is what I was referring to about the seperate tab thing. LOTRO chat I did not use much when I was there and seemed a bit more complicated than it needed to be.

    I don't see how /ooc, /lff, /kinship, /tell and /advice are all that complicated.

I did not say it was complicated. I wrote it was more complicated than it needed to be. /advice and whatever is not as user friendly as a tab that is marked and right there for ease of use like we have in DDO.
