    Default How to Hound.

Since i still get alot of people asking about how to run a hound raid, and a large portion of pug hound raids seemingly fail for some reason. I've decided to post a video of a typical hound raid. I hope this helps some people when they go to do the hound raid in the future!

Cool video, it's always interesting to see how people on different servers do it. And very smooth.

    No GH, though?

its debatable. but alot of us are of the opinion that the dogs are immune to gh because its a mind affecting type spell. but even if they got the benefit of gh songs override it. and since the dogs dont have umd, no point in wasting the time to cast it. that being said. if im on my caster and we dont have a bard, ill hit the dogs with gh just to be safe. :P

Thats just total and complete BS!!!!

    It would go something like......

Group leader: "Mr. Spyder on Your Caster, since we have no bard can you give the dogs a GH?"

Spyder: "Heck no! Dont those n00bs know it comes on scrolls, tell em to get themselves!"

Group Leader:"Mr. Spyder, the dogs dont have any points in UMD"

Spyder: "No UMD??? Tell em to reroll, and in the meantime, GH comes on a belt!!! This is Caffine!! Get your own darn GH!!!"

    ::::::::disclaimer::::fine print::::::yada yada:::::::

Nice vid, sorry i missed it but i had way too much caffine and not near enough food, and i was shaking out of my chair

Sorry, I meant GH on yourself, to make you immune to fear

Would have sucked if you and the cleric got feared there!

    Nice run.

I've gotta say... the Hound goes smooth when people follow directions and trust each other enough to let each person do their own jobs. Caffeine is lucky to be such a team.

BTW: LMAO at the Spyderwolf impersonation! That is 100% accurate.

The nerfing will continue until morale improves!

<<---This Cleric wears Fear immunity I made an all inclusive shroud one on a cloak with a cute little clickie, and I just switch my napkin for Neg/Neg in hound since I won't be casting anything other than heals--er 99% of the time.

For some reason BIG DOGGY was chomping on the wall the entire fight liek it was rubbed down with a big steak, even the one dog who was taking damage wasn't taking very much. FIrst time I had seen her do that in hundreds of runs--if anyone was wondering why I asked if the dogs were doing damage. I was in an elite run where all 3 dogs ere stuck under her and couldn't do any damage so I was worried there for a second as I had to go to sleep.

F the dogs... i say we give em weapons like we could with charmed mobs in eq.. made it very interesting when they break.

I have always been of the opinion that gH helpsa dog break their charm earlier.. i could be wrong about that, so I dont like it when it is cast on the Puppies. I have happened to fail the only times we do that.

And to add my 2 cp's... it is nice to run with good peeps, the caffeinated ones are pretty good to run with..they have good strats, good players and also nice people to boot. I want BEER!!!

Check the examination window after casting GH on a dog. It doesn't even show up so pretty sure they are immune. The song versions do seem to work though (Inspire Courage, Greatness, and Heroics). Doesn't seem to take any shorter for 'em to break while buffed, and they do tend to rip the big dog apart faster.

i'm pretty sure the dogs are immune to all enchantment spells like including GH, thats why the blue splash come off the dogs when you cast it and it doesn't show up in the examination window.

Default Dog are Immune to Mind-affecting Spells. Period.

Mind-affecting spells i would not waste time casting on dogs as i am sure they do not take effect : Greater Heroism. Rage. Heroism. Good Hope.

Dogs breaking are a timed event unrelated to any factor such as the dogs general hp level.

Bards should max the action points increasing damage from inspire courage. If you are a bard who has not maxxed your song damage capabilities, you should really just play a buffing-wizard b/c you are really missing the point of a group having a bard.

Good Things to buff the Dogs with (once they are all charmed and focused on big dog):

Inspire Courage- first no matter what, then HASTE, then the other song components
Prayer and Recitation, mass shield of faith (or individually), mass bulls, maybe mass bears
Barkskin, acid resist, acid pro, stoneskin.

If 3 dogs stay alive and attacking with these buffs, the big dog will die well before the beholders exist, in my experience anyways.

Play as Caden Ben Sayid Ecko Mase Soyer Hurly Misterecko Papoose and Littlecaden

And yes, i have failed at least my fair share of hound raids. these are just observations of what works and doesnt.

Clerics should drop blade barrier as soon as the second message regarding Xyzzy is announced. Debuffing the dog works at this point too, in case what should be a 10 second beatdown becomes a 5 minute debacle.

You are correct. I have tried it with and without GH on my bard. As long as the pups stay alive, I've never needed to recharm a 4th before the Hound is ready for a beatdown.
