The quori invade xen'drik through a gate that connects Eberron to Dal Quor, the plane of Dreams. after years of battle , the giants call upon the magic of the dragons to destroy the planer gate . This act results in a cataclysm that shakes Xen' drick to its core and plunges large chunks of the continent beneath the sea. The physical connecection to dal quor is severed perhaps forever

Cause Chuck Norris told em to.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
- Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
- Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
- Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
- Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
- Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.
Keep in mind folks, that the question isn't "what" happened, but "why". I see several interesting interpretations of the events, but not a lot of insight into the motivation.
Scratching an itch is one thing... but interdimensional wars don't happen often.
As in all wars, there are two stories to be dug up here.
i belive it has too do with ..Inthe mythic past, the world was one and the progenitor wyrms, the first and greatest of dragonkind ruled all. The the most powerful- Sibrey,Ebberon and Kyber created the prophecy has too do with the evasions as what the prophecy is i have not found that info yet

The Quori shift their nature to fit the era in which they exist. They are a Ying-Yang to the world and were at that time neutral (or good) to balance the continuing imbalance of power amongst the Giants that became corrupt. When the Dragons of Argonnessen chose to share their magicks with the Giants the balance shift became too great and forced a War in which the Giants attempted to overtake Dal Quor and destroy the Quori (with much success). Later on the elves of Aerneal lashed back at the great destruction of the Spirit Realm -- with which all Sylvan creatures hold an intimate connection. At this time the Dragons came to the Truth that the Giants would destroy the world if they could not rule it, and thus came the Great War of Xen'drik. This resulted in the final fall of the Giants and a shift in the balance of Good -- thus ushering the next age of the Dal Quor -- an evil and maligned spirit realm of Quori.
You all can thank Argonnessen later.Argo saved your Khyber and Siberyian butts.
PS: A direct WHY is the Dal Quor are a balance to the World of Eberron -- they exist between the Dragon Above and the Dragon Below -- in a spirit world that protects Eberron from itself. They are the Balance.
Could the "why" be that they had no wish to be destroyed? The Dal Quor with the quori are subject to a cycles of implosions and renewals. They wanted to prevent that. They invaded Eberron in the hope to establish a place on the Material Plane in order to conquer it. The giants with the help of Dragon magic managed to repel that invasion at the cost of loosing their civilization and dominance in Eberron. The powerful magics used in the war displaced Dal Quor from it's orbit which caused it to be permanetly severed from Eberron.
This brought about the factioning of the Quori into the Kalashtars and the Inspired. One wants Eberron and Dal Quor to be coterminous again, the other is trying to stop it.

40,000 years prior to the end of the Last War, the quori of that age invaded Eberron in an attempt to prevent the dawning of a new age but were repelled by the giants of Xen'drik, who managed to sever all connections between Eberron and Dal Quor using immensely powerful magic.
Im guessing that like most beings they dont want to change(or die) but keep things the way they are.

The "Titan" Giants of old Xen'drik had the ability to manipulate the orbit of the planes. I think the invasion of the Dal Quor came about because of this manipulation. I think the Titans did not fully comprehend what they were doing and during one of their manipulations, they may have altered the natural evolution of light and dark cycles of Dal Quor also resulting in opening a gateway between Eberron and Dal Quor. The residents of Dal Quor may have invaded to try and stop the Titans. I think this is also the reason why the dragons of Argonnesan may have had a falling out with the Titans because the dragons did not think it was wise to manipulate the orbital planes.

In their attempt to understand the nature of the plane of existense which they inhabitied the Quori experimented with interdimensional travel. The experiment went awry, and forced a coplanar merge within the giant hold. In an attempt to separate the plains, it was deemed to be necessary to destroy the giant hold, in order to severe the dimensional anchor. The giant not wishing to be destroyed, began their own experiemnts to devise a way to destroy the Quori, the vast magiks required allianceses with the formidable powers of the windslashers the dragons and other groups from across eberaon. The Quori science combinded with the Magiks and devastated the land.
