How To Split Ranger/Fighter

How should I make my next toon? I was wondering what would be a better build for dps with khopesh, 12/8 ranger/fighter or 12/8 fighter/ ranger. I was thinking about doing the 12/8 ranger/fighter so I could get tempest 2 and the 8 levels of fighter for all the feats and bab.

Can someone give me a breakdown of the pros and cons to each build? Any input would be awesome.

best for DPS:
Ranger 18 / Fighter 2.

Tempest III = Superior TWF.


Tempest III beats Kensai I thrice before breakfast.
Not to mention the better FE, the high SP pool, the higher spell level you can cast. And the many action points you save if you dont need to take Kensai.

Pretty sure Tempest II is all but worthless. As such, you should be either aiming for Tempest I or Tempest III--going for II is a complete waste (though the ranger levels yield other benefits).

Agree about Tempest II, which is sad since the Dev's had plenty of time to change it based on feed back, and have done nothing (as far as I can tell) to correct it.
