    Default Multi-classing Skills

    Excuse me

I would like some clarification in regards to skills.

I want to build a multi-class character that will take a splash of another class for skill purposes.

    Example:

    Ranger / Fighter

TWF Ranger with splash Fighter for Intimidate purposes while retaining max BAB.

If I go 2 Ranger 1 Fighter then back to Ranger it shows Intimidate as cross-class again.

I was told that once you have a splash of another class it'll open up that skill as non-cross class.

Can I get clarification on this?

Does this mean that if I went 15 Ranger 1 Fighter I'd have available 19 Ranks of Intimidate but I'd still have to spend 2 skill points during the Ranger levels to get 1 point?

Or does it means that I'll have a max of 10 rank? (9 from 15 ranger, 1 from Fighter)

    I am a bit confused.

    Thanks

    Yes.

If you are already a 1 Ranger (taken @ 1st lvl to get more skillpoints) then have multiclassed to Fighter @ lvl 2. Effectively making you a 1 Ranger / 1 Fighter. At the next level if you take it as Ranger you now have access to your fighter skills, but you must pay 2 points for each rank in the fighter skill you would like to increase.

At lvl 15 Ranger / 1 Fighter you will have a 'theoretical' cross class skill maximum of 19 in intimidate.

    Hope that helps.

The value to splashing a class to get access to the class skills is that you CAN put 2 points per level into it.

For example, a ranger wanting to invest in intimidation without splashing rogue (hint hint wink wink) can only put 1 point per level (.5 rank per level) regardless of how many skill points they have to invest.

The nice thing is that Ranger is a Skill-Based Class with a lot of Skill Points per level so you can keep Intimidate maxed out without sacrificing too much.
My Ranger/Fighter is built for Battle overall. Intimidate, Balance, UMD, Spot, and Jump are my primary skills.
I didn't put too much into Hide or Move Silently, so I had plenty of points for what I considered important.
It's up to you what you want to do, but you should be able to max Intimidate without too much trouble.
