    Lightbulb New weapons!

    I remember playing pen and paper 3rd edition and having interesting new weapons to choose from to make my character different in appearance as well as combat style. I guess I am just curious since the mode 9 is coming out and it aimed toward fighters (supposedly). Can we expect to see some double bladed weapons or spiked chain weapons with +2 to trip etc.. Or even some classics like the flail and polearm that actually give a sense for range attacks.

    Again Just a suggestion. It just seems as though people are always direct to the same weapon due specs and damage they make as oppose to what they can add to a style. Some should have combat benefits for trip, sunder, disarming and shield bashing etc.

    I agree. There should be more weapons. I do like the ones that are there, I mean they brought in the great crossbow, that wasnt even a normal weapon. Kamas should add to trip, too. Give us some weapon love.

    Reach weapons would be cool as would the flail.

    But for the love all that is holy, don't include the spiked chain.

    Why not the spike chain think of the cool animation... and heck the mechanics I believed worked like double weapons anyway. Can you honestly say you would want your warrior or monk do this stuff? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCunOyVgy_Y

    Are you saying there should be weapons which give bonuses to trip, sunder, disarm and shield bash? If that's what you're saying, you must be forgetting about weapons with the Shatter and Vertigo properties and Shields of Bashing.

    Nope haven't forgotten, but have you forgotten that when your lvl 1-2 you don't usually have those weapons? I am not saying give a +10 its an initial +2 or whatever. Consider all your initial weapons for the first lvl you usually chose elemental dmg or the likes.

    New weapons would be great! Maybe they could make more designs for old weapons, for instance, the all common Longsword, make it have more graphic versions of it. I'd like to see Spiked Chains, Flails, Whips, Katanas, Halberds, etc. Maybe new sheild designs would be cool, were getting kinda bored with the same sheilds.

    Default Trip bonus

    As already put, we are not forgetting about the Vertigo and the likes, but in core 3.5 rules, which DDO was based on, some of the weapons gave an inherent bonus to such actions as disarm and trip (for the trade off of unequipping your weapon on a fail) Now, I am not asking for that, so do start flaming me. But, some weapons just would be better at attempting a trip then others, much like some have quicker attacks. Come on, daggers wouldnt trip as well as a greataxe, just isnt right.

    Whips would be cool, but never did much damage. Halberds are awesome, what about an Urgrosh? (Axe on one end and a pick-like spike on the other) Think of how cool the animations for that could be.

    Yeah but think of whips as secondary weapons like a main-gauche. Whip in one hand and rapier in the other ?!

    Whip, spiked Chain and more weapons of this kind ---> DDO would need new animations, which are really expensive to produce.

    And again it boils down to where the limited development budget should be invested if we, the players, could give pieces of advice.

    Sry for the necro - but I've been away for awhile;

    It's my opinion that without the ability to sunder weapons the spiked chain, per PnP, would be extremely overpowered. A finessable, double, reach/close weapon with bonuses to trip.

    That and the image of fighters and barbs using these just seems wrong to me. Monks I can see but they aren't monk weapons. For the record, I also dislike dual rapier wielding, dress wearing barbarians. Just IMO of course.
