Default Newbie lost in the DDO account jungle

Earlier today i decided to try out DDO, and got me a trial account. I entered key at cogaccounts and started playing.

I later arrived at Stomrreach after having done the intro quets, and found myself unable to talk to regular players. I figured it was a trial accoutn limitation, so i bought a key through the main website, and recieved email confrmation with a brand new product key.

I went to cogaccounts again, and logged in. I lciked upgrade account next to my trial, and it asked me to enter the product key, which I did... just to find it say "key is invalid"

I then tried going to turbine, where it said my username/pass didnt combine successfully. I gathered it i had to make a new account, which i did with same username/password combo as at cogaccounts. Then it asks me to pay again for ro register the key i got with the mail, the exact same ammount as i bought the game with. I figured it was first a buy of the game itself and then a sub fee, so i went ahead as i really want to play.

So i log into the game using my trial account name, just to find myself unable to talk to regular players still.

Im getting the feeling that im just losing money right now, getting an invalid key, having no sense what I can do about upgrading my account, not sure about anything... I am utterly and completely lost and only have my trial account still...despite paying twice.

COG is Codemasters. They run the European servers. If you want to play on the EU servers, please contact Codemasters directly. You can start from their website here: http://www.ddo-europe.com/

Turbine runs the North American/Oceanic servers. For specific assistance with a Turbine account, please contact the Account Management department. Contact options can be found from the link in my signature.

The two use different billing systems, different game versions and different servers. Be sure you have the game downloaded for the version you want to play.

ok...yesterday I just bought the game new in box in a store in America...after reading this post I looked at the box and found out that it's the COG version. Does this mean there's no way I can use it to activate my American account??

Unfortunately there isn't. You'll need to return that box to the store and request a refund, as they sold you a product you cannot use.

You can buy the game from the Turbine store (store.turbine.com) or by clicking the red "Upgrade Now" button on the Account Management page.

Please note that product keys can only be used to create new accounts or upgrade trials. They cannot be used to add time to an account or re-activate it.

Please also, if you can, PM me with the name and location of the store that you bought the game at. Thanks!

    Hi Victorie,

    Alright

I think you guys need to add the error code 30022 to you FAQ database...it happens when people try to enter a COG code on the Turbine website. I was soooo frustrated last night because I couldn't figure out why it didn't work.

I'm pretty sure this means that this guy (from Turkey) has the same problem

That code doesn't necessarily mean that it's a COG key, although it sometimes does. It just means that the code isn't valid - which can happen if a person enters a GTC in that field, or types in a product key wrong. But, I'll see if the Knowledge Base guys can add something about that error.
