    Default Hireling hidden spells

I saw a dev post once talking about the "other" spells the hirelings have.

Do they have more spells than those on the hotbar that shows up? if so, how do you access them? It is frustrating bringing a hireling and having them show up with spells you don't really want and not have ones like haste....

    Thanks in advance...

Yes they do which they use but you can't control those. I love the hireling system but I wish they allowed us to look at the spell and skill/ability list and allow use to switch them to the hot keys if we want. Also allowing us to name them would be nice as well.

For active spells -- the best thing you can do is just to keep track of which ones DO have the spells you want and reuse them since they have the same build every time.

As for hidden spells -- you don't usually see them unless you set the character to "attack" mode, but some of them aren't completely terrible. My personal favorite is the mighty Barrage. He has a pimp hat, he has a great active spell selection, and if you let him run free he'll unleash PKs / Acid Fogs / and an assortment of other nastiness on your foes.

I'm a new player but I've noticed this. I play a warforged and many of the wizard and sorceror hirelings have repair spells even if they are not on their active bar.

One thing I've noticed is that Hirelings tend to have WAY more spell slots than we do. One of the lowbie sorcs should only have 1 lvl 3 spell, yet his bar shows haste and fireball, and I've seen him cast lightning bolt when on active. I forget the name, but he was definately a lvl 6 sorc with multiple lvl 3 spells.

For information on what spells, feats and enhacements they have check the DDO Compendium: Hirelings.

Yeah it is a little wierd - Arianalla Eyes-of-Darkness (lvl 3) sometimes just runs around trying to fight with her bow and sometimes is a freakin death dealing, hypnotizing, siren of destruction. She casts hypnotize on multiple monsters at a time - some behind her, niacs a bunch of monsters, and throws out some flaming hands, all without pause.

Oh yeah and she does this with pretty much no spell cost that is apparent.

I like it alot when she does that...i don't like it so much when she stands behind me at a doorway shooting her + 1 shortbow.....

It must be me and how much love i am showing her during quest because so far otherwise it is random whether she brings her "A" game or not....

Interesting.. so the level 16 Cleric Hirelings (Isadora Ironclaw and Natasha) carries around wands of Cure light wounds? She needs to upgrade and replace those with some better wands

they might carry wands, but they dont seem to use them when they run out of mana like they do.

I suggest the spelllists be LEGAL gamewise also..

sorcerors have the same "auto" spell list the wizards do and much more mana, they're cheats

Each hireling caster or cleric should have his/her own spell list, with 4 selected spells/abilities available for players to choose when and where they happen.

Any hireling WORTH hireing needs to have a repair spell if sorceror of wizard..
and clerics need to have remove curse/remove fear and/or lesser restore. (on auto cast)

I think you miss the point of hirelings. They aren't robots to use and throw out like a dead battery.
They have names and specific ability sets and even a little bit of a back story. If you went out and hired an electrician to come to your house and rewire it, would you try to make him change his name? How do you think that would go over?

Hireling with backstories is great, thats why they need to have a themed spell list too.. not just the most powerful spell list going.

It's like saying no wizard or sorceror is complete without haste and firewall.
