Red face I'm a noob, will freely admit it...

but I don't understand why, if I die in a Stormreach quest, I'm catapulted back to Korthos Island. Why? Was I really that bad??

Bind in a nearby tavern and you won't see Korthos again.

to set your ressurection point (bind), go into a tavern. In the harbor,
i generally use the wayward lobster. When I'm in the market, i'm generally bound
in the Rusty Nail. When you enter the tavern look for a brother (or sister) and talk
to them. Select the option that reads something like "can you resurrect me if I die in battle".
The brother or sister will ask you to confirm and then you will be bound to that area.
You can change your bind point at will.

    Hope this helps a bit.
