Default Zoid needs YOU! (to help him with Stealer of Souls)

Hail fellow Sarlonians! Hope everyone is having fun in preparation for the new Mod 9 release. I have been to Lamania and have ventured across the planes to a portal there, which deny's me access to the "Battlefield". Oh well, soon enough i guess. Beautiful environment, i will say that.

Which brings me to my actual purpose for writing here. As i have nearly completed all my greensteel crafting now, i am nearing a point where i am wrapping up alot of my personal goals for Zoid. I do, however have yet to complete his Dragoncrafted armor. At this point i am flagged and have completed the three prereqs and have been looting the Eerie forest. I have 850 draconic runes, 3 eldrich runes with which to buy the others for crafting. What i'm asking for is some help to complete Stealer of Souls and get my soverign rune to do my crafting. I know that you have to re-flag if you fail so i'm particularly concerned to do what ever is needed to finish it sucessfully. (ie: lots of mnemonics) I currently have 13 levels of wizard with 4 ranks amplification on fire/cold and force/repair, as well as 3 ranks multiplier and 3 ranks spell crit chance enhancements for both as well. I know Zoid can offer the required spell DPS as he also operates with maximize, empower and extend full time. I have a pair of concordant opposition bracers and the Torque for a constant supply of SP. With one level of fighter, 2 levels of rogue, khopesh prof, oversized two weapon feat, improved crit slashing, 2 green steel khopeshes, bloodstone and 20 clicks of divine power, i consider Zoid a pretty decent DPS hand to hand combatant as well. Also dual wield wounding puncturing daggers with eldrich force crits on them as well if that is prefered method. (love fighting in cloud kill, walls of fire and acid fog)

Anyway i know Zoid might not be the best team player in Eberron, but i would be humbled to join with any of you who might bring your experience and talents to task on my behalf so i can close this chapter and look like a super hero in my new armor! lol. I would also be willing to reciporicate to help any others who could use my help as well.

Oh ya, please feel free to discuss or offer any strategy or insight with regard to Stealer of Souls here in this thread as well as i haven't found alot of info on the forums. Or perhaps point me in the right direction. :P Thanks to all.

    Love Zoid

    Default Thanks Scribner!

Awesome Scribner! Thank you. I know that i am likely being a bit over cautious. We will most likely walk all over this quest. :P

I have stepped in and went into the stone giant area and fought like a bugger to stay alive there on my own. Ultimately i wasted my sp pts and then died. Definately not a one man show in there.

Its great to have you with me. I'm not in a big rush so i'm hoping a couple more will happen along who we can coordinate with from here.

    Cheers

    Zoid salutes you!

I have never gone in there, but I have a Wizard 12 / Fighter 4 (Weather) that is ready to do the quest. Went through all those quests for fun, then hit a wall trying to find a SoS group...

You can't buy anything from the dude in the Reaver's Refuge until you have completed SoS once (and taken your end reward).

850 draconic is impressive though - average 1.5 runes per chest, average 1.5 chests per instance and average 5 mins per instance - that's over 30 hours of wilderness soloing...

Highlight the following section to read the spoiler text...

    Part 1: Earth

Buffs: Electric and Sonic resist will be helpful, plus the standard assortment (GH, blur, DW, etc...)
Objective: Run around the level, killing the 3 orange giants hiding behind roots. Once all 3 are dead, head to the mini-boss.
Strategies: Some people like to stone the giants, then Wounding/Puncture them to death. I personally prefer Heightened Web + Cloudkill. For the end fight, I haste the fighters, then block the last door with webs and cloudkill. I keep the respawning giants out of the room so the fighters can focus on the boss. If the DPS is a little lacking, I'll put a firewall on the boss.

    Part 2: Ice

Buffs: FoM, Poison Proof, and cold resist will be handy, plus the standards.
Objective: Run up the ramp and over the bridge, and kill the mini-boss once the force field drops.
Strategies: Some people pull the levers on the bottom, but usually we just zerg the bridge. I've found if you time the air traps, and jump right after you run through them, you usually can avoid getting blown off. Once on the other side, more webs + CK to clean up the trash, and pull the top lever if you have any stragglers. The boss will spam CK and ice storm, so Break Enchantment is handy. Wall of Fire is of limited use, as his Ice Storm will extinguish them, but sometimes the ice storms miss the walls. Keep the melee hasted, and spam scorching ray!

    Part 3: Fire

Buffs: Fire resist, Jump, and Feather Fall are essential, Firestorm Greaves/Evasion/Fire Shield (cold) are a bonus, plus the standards (I'll stop including this now)
Objective: Run around the map, killing the Djinn and Fire Elies, and turn off the 3 runes you will find on pillars. Head into the final room once the 3rd rune drops the shields, and kill the mini-boss.
Strategies: Keep your feather fall on while jumping from platform to platform... it doesn't take long for the lava to cook you. Stay together, as different paths through the platforms will cause mobs to spawn. Once inside the last room, I like to spam CK (they destroy your webs immediately), and kite the djinn around while the hasted melees handle the main boss. Cold spells such as CoC or Polar Ray do loads of damage to the boss, but tend to make the melees irritable if they have to chase him chasing you.

    Part 4: Air

    Buffs: Electric.
Objective: Run up the ramps turning off runes, kill the mini-boss.
Strategies: I try to buff everyone before shrining, then save my sp for the air elementals. Let the hasted melees deal with the storm giants on the way up, and FoD/PK/Destruct/etc.. the elies. Before going into the last fight, I put 4-5 Disco balls in a line, as elies will spawn at the top of the last ramp while fighting the boss. He will cast a lot of cloud cover, so your melees might appreciate the occasional Break Enchantment to clear the air. Haste the melees, and keep the air elies away.

Killing the storm giant boss will end the quest, and give you your XP. If anyone got knocked off the platform, they will fall down into the main room where Sorjek is... don't kill the boss until the get back to the air room! If anyone is in the room with Sorjek when the quest finishes, the main fight will start. You don't want that until you are ready for it, as the longer the fight takes the more likely you will not kill him.

    Sorjek:

Buffs: All elemental resists, FoM. Fear Immunity is essential (GH or Reaver's Ring)
    Objective: Kill Sorjek.
Strategies: Red named mephits will spawn slowly at first, and faster the longer the fight takes. Don't hit Sorjek when the cold mephit is out (blue bands around Sorjek), but the other colors are OK to continue beating on him.

I've seen a couple strategies used to keep him still:

    1. Hero: 1 melee whales on Sorjek until he has solid aggro. I don't remember how much damage he needs to take before everyone gets on him, but it was after the environmental effects go away. When mephits spawn, all non-heros kill the mephits then get back to beating on Sorjek.
    2. Play Pen: 4 people stand on the lines of the X directly beneath Sorjek, while the caster puts a firewall on him BEFORE HE ACTIVATES, then moves as far away as possible. The 4 around Sorjek DO NOT MOVE, and only beat on Sorjek after his health passes the "S" in his name. When mephits spawn, they will hit the firewall on Sorjek, then flap over to the caster to burn in his personal firewall. The 6th person needs to be able to deal with a red name fire mephit.
    3. Wall on Fire: #2 will sometime turn into #1, except the hero in this case is the caster. If you are a WF arcane with the Torc, so much the sweeter!

If you fail the Sorjek fight, you'll still get the completion (and the 50 draconic rune end reward and the ability to buy armor), but you won't get the Sovereign Rune.
