Talking Improiving effectiveness resting at Shrines

    Good afternoon All,

My name is RIPNTERROR and I play on the Khyber server. Im sure a few of you have seen me on regularly beating the pulp out of all fleshies except for the Giant punk Jorgudal who insists on tripping me with his comet falls, and somehow magically resurrects himself after been punished with Holy Weapons and Wounding weapons and dies. But i digress.

I am trying to figure out why it is that each time I rest at the shrine I only heal for 40 or so HP.s My little fleshie buddies dont understand why I am still wounded after a rest. I do have 350HP

I am a 13/1 Fighter/wizard Warforged. I have 13 points in repair, and a +5 repair items that I wear when resting. I also have 233 favor in the Silver Flame, and 155 Favor in House J as I was told that favor in those houses will help with this. I also have 1 level of Healers Friend, and taken a few action points to improve my damage reduction to a DR/4 adamantine from DR 2. What am I missing?

If you want full effectiveness at a shrine (for a WF), you either:

    1) Shrine with a wizard sitting nearby

    or

    2) Wear/Use the following right before you shrine:
    +15 repair item
    +6 int item
    +6 int skill shroud item
hit any skill boost before shrining
get a heroism or greater heroism for the shrine,
    max out your repair skill.

    or

    3) Realize that shrining sucks past lvl 10, and just drink a couple potions if the healer wont top you up.

    Personally I choose #3

    Question

I was wondering how a Wizard near by is going to influence my rest other than he can cast greater reconstruction when I am done. I do carry Repair Serious and Repair Critical wands to help stay alive during and after a battle. However, those get expensive after a while, and it seems like a fleshie with points in the Heal seem to heal to full HP. I have a similar level Drow 13 Fighter/1 Cleric Sultar who has 256 HP, and only a +3 Heal item and 15 Wisdow, and heal heals 100% each time he rests. So I am confused?

It appears that even a WF should have a few points in Heal in addition to Repair? It doesnt seem to make sense..

wf use repair instead of heal. so a wiz with a high int will have an ok repair skill and it will help

A wizard nearby while shrining helps because when you finish resting the game checks the repair skill so all nearby characters, and applies healing depending on the highest one (nearby means pretty much all sitting on top of each other).

As for the drow healing more, well first off theres a diff of 100hp max there, so the drow doesnt need to heal nearly as much. Secondly, the formula for number of hitpoints gained is much better for non-WF. I forget exactly how, but its significant. Add to this that clerics usually know about the greater effect of shrines if they stand on people, while wizards dont, and you tend to get much better shrining on a non-WF.

Trust me though, at higher levels nobody cares about healing from shrines.

an absurdly high repair wouldnt be able to heal you up at 350HP.

The formula is considerably outdated, with that much HP, you shouldnt expect to recover much of it when resting at a shrine, wizard near by or not.

the heal skill will do nothing for you
repair skill will not do much
and favor from the houses wont do anything while resting either

a favor reward will make you regen more HP while running around town, but not inside a quest

    Wink

this make sense I guess. I tend to not use the shrine unless for some reason I died and someone wasnt kind enough to ressurect me. It is in that case where i was trying to determain the best way to lessen the burden on the cleric in restoring my HP.

Regarding the drow, yeah this makes sense too as their is almost a 100HP difference.

I cant wait to get to 16 and find a +6 Con item to get over 400 HP.

The best way to lessen the burden is by bringing lots and lots of pots to use at shrines.

And why wait till 16 for that +6 con. They are out there now with ml between 13-15.
