How would your students feel if they asked an honest question and were simply ignored...repeatedly? Would they still have faith in you as their instructor? Would they continue to ask questions in a respectful manner (or even at all)? Would they come to class any longer?

Good OP, I agree with your questions and I agree that it is time that the vision and direction was shared with us. MS does it, Adobe does it, Dell does it, IBM does it, every major software and hardware company I deal with has a plan that’s out there…
I’ve never met a husband and wife work team where we didn’t see one or more of:
- one was hired inappropriately and with less skills than would have been required if not for the marriage
- where at some point marriage groupthink didn’t cause poor decision making
- marriage problems bled into work
This never bodes well
- Seperate work from home...they never mix.
- Allow clearly defined roles...(but someone must lead) as catering to your lessor half weakens your own judgement.
- At work think work... at home think home.
- If you cant "fire" your partner (because of issues) get them trained up for what you demand...partner does not = qualified for the job.
- Hire someone who "knows" the job to assist your partner...this will keep them on there toes.
- "sack" the partner if he/she is not up to scratch...seperate space is a GOOD thing.

OP this is a great question one which I would love to hear some type of answers too. March Mayhem shows that the DDO community loves this game and we all want to know what the future holds for the game we love and support.
But I think you kind of ask this at a bad time, late Thursday just before a holiday weekend where some people will take vacation, others are getting stuff set up for a short-man weekend. This would have been in a much better place if you would have waited until after the holiday. IMHO
So maybe Monday or Tuesday we MIGHT see some dev responses when everyone gets back from the holiday.

If I truely felt this way I would leave the game as no GAME is worth having those negative feelings about. Could Turbine be more forthcoming with the vision of the game (and god I pray they do not introduce respecs), absolutely. However I still enjoy the game very much anyway and do not sweat over this. Although I wouldn't mind knowing what the vision is for curiosity's sake I don't need to know, if the game sets off in a direction I really don't care for (as you and a few others do to include the OP) I would simply leave the game and find my entertainment elsewhere.
Overall though kudos to Turbine as in my opinon DDO is the best game out there hands down.

Morning, hope all had great weekend.
Hope the Paiz family have a sense of "renewing" from the holiday as many others have.

I don't think they can answer because they don't neccessarily know. I think they may not even know 100% where they are going for a mod 10. I don't think they are even 100% done with mod 9. So, instead of making useless statements as they did in the past, they just choose to ignore the subject. Either way they screw themselves. The problem is that they can never keep up with demand with a small force of development. And the longer this cycle continues, the less subscriptions they have which translates into less development dollars.
This game was financially a bust after month 1. So many folks had 1 month subscritions and high expectations. Month 2 all of those folks left; which was a vast majority of the population. If you remember, the first mod was dubbed a thank you to the loyal subscribers; not a good omen. In fact, pre mod 1, this game was Dungeons and NO Dragons Online. This game was release a year too early. It should have been release with all content up through mod 4. I think if that were the case, the player base would be dramatically different than it is now, there would have been more money for development and we would be seeing more frequent content updates. However, that is not the case and this game is what it is.
Well if so many of you have given up on Turbine, why do you insist on still logging in and doing nothing but be negative?
If I created something and saw people doing nothing but bash it, would I readily want to give them information about updates? No. As I stated before, I am not asking for concrete "this will be release on this date" type information. I am honestly asking the Paiz family, since they are the ones leading this game in whatever direction they chose, what we could be seeing on the horizon. If people are too egotistical and selfish to understand that then there is no amount of self-help books that will help them.
The vocal minority, which is what the forums are have some ringleaders that think they can run this game or any game better than those currently doing so. My suggestion to them is to contact WotC, obtain liscensing and develop your own game and run it continually while helping it grow without causing some of your playerbase to be angry. The vocal minority, need to learn to NOT immediately jump to conclusions about the up coming doom, and actually provide "constructive criticism" without flaming the company and the developers.
Keep in mind everyone, the developers are only at fault for flaws within the programming, the are not at fault for what they are directed to work on.

Amen, as far as I care this game is fine for those of us that don't raid 10 times a week, I enjoy it as a casual game as should you, if you want a game that you need to do endless hours of mindless grinding and instancing go to WoW or some where else. This community does not need all the bashing on the devs. Although there is some stuff I do agree on and I think the devs had a hand in but they may not have, eg. the game came out too early I do agree with that, I would have liked to seen it released at it's full potential, but on the other hand they may have had to do the push as to get the funds so it didn't go under. Keeping something in development for another year could cost a few million dollars, and most people let alone companies don't have that kind of cash to throw around.
Although I think in the long run it would have had a greater benefit if they held of on it. And the devs I am sure had a say if it was ready or not but if they didn't then there is nothing they could have done, other than scramble to make it look all nice a shiny while trying to put out content as fast as possible while still keeping it good. And as a craftsman by trade I tell my customers they can have one or the other, Fast or Good not both, good content takes time, although it seams in turbines eyes, as far as DDO goes anyway. We don't get much along either of those lines... we get 15 months then next to nothing...
Any way, I don't hold it against them for ignoring one of the most loyal fan bases in the world, and they know we are, or else they would be trying to save those that are stopping their subs from leaving, but oh well. their loss.

Lericho I support your original post and would love to see a response come to it. But I can honestly see why it may not get it. And this is not to be negative, im going by what I learned in business period.
While Mr and Mrs. Paiz are giving their all to make changes to the game, they probably do not want to give their hand on any future for ddo since even a mention of something they would like to see could be taken by rabid gamers as a direct quote of something that will happen.
take the guild housing fiasco. Kate mentioned that they were looking towards having that as a feature for mod nine about a year or two years ago and it became "Guild housing coming to ddo" Even though if you go back and read the interview it was one of the things she hoped to see happen. I wont lie I brought into the hype about the things that were supposed to be coming instead of reading the interview myself till someone posted it. People take things the way they wish to, and tend to skewer words to their own liking.
Would I like Fernando and Kate to give a state of the game address sure. But we would still have to make it clear that their visions are just that, that these hopes may never see the light of day and in the end that would just disappoint people. Sure they can say "we wish to see epic levels, new races and classes and more animations." But if they do not have the budget for it and cannot make it happen for a few years all it will do is spark more rumors and debates on what may or may not come. They really cannot win in this situation, if they talk they have to worry about what they say being misconstrued by hungry ddo players who are eager to hear anything about the future of the game we love. And being silent makes them seem like they dont care
I would not want to be in their shoes right now.
