I'm tired of those pesky CO6 Mephits killing off all my new friends.

Anyone know where I can find small groups of Fire and Air mephits to experiment on?

Three Barrel Cove in the northeastern area is host to some fire mephits (and fire elementals). That is probably the easiest place to access and isolate one alone or in a small grouping.

Air mephits tend to not be used in lower quests or explorer areas and Cult of the Six is one of the first places for many folks to encounter several of them at once.

The house K quest, lvl 6 i think the fire one with all the ele's has a fire mephit inside the door as soon as u walk in as well as a combination of types at various sections. Also in House K forgotten caverns. the begining has a bunch of ice mephits.

The fire mephs are found on the way to the fire caves.
The sand and salt mephs are found, assuming you travel from the fire caves, on the way to Admiral Ancker and the West Wind Mistress respectively. The salt mephs are along the right arm of the "Y" shaped terrain feature NE of the Admiral and the fire mephs are found along the way to the fire caves. All told you will get around 20 upon which to unleash your fury.

There is a House K quest, right near the entrance to VON 4 that has ice mephits just inside the quest.

Taming the Flames in house K is the lowest-level quest I know of with both fire and air mephits in it.
