At least Transmuting will still bypass half the DR on Arri and Suulo.

    *Shrug*

I always used Lightning IIs on normal anyway.

They need to give us more weapon sets.

    It's all or nothing.

Transmuting will bypass nothing without pure good or flametouched iron.

Quote of DR of Pit Fiend from Dev. Although assuming it's the current implementation may be a stretch.

So thanks for proving his statement? This thread is not so much about Min2 you know... Regulat tranmuters without pure good or flametouched iron are going to be all but useless.

Ya know....I just looked up Transmuting in the MiC....it's pretty much WAI as currently implemented in-game. I'm still against this change.

I figured if you needed both, the dev would've said "15/silver and good"; if I'm misunderstanding DR (which I very well may be; I'm no expert by any means) then feel free to enlighten me.

The way that I see it from what the dev said is that he has 30 combined DR, 15 of which can be bypassed with silver and 15 of which can be bypassed with good.

    Hurray for esoteric semantics.

Nope, when you have 15/silver and 15/good that means you have 15 DR tops, but the weapon must be both silver and good to bypass.

Maybe you didn't realize what you quote...

15/good and 15/silver; 50% fort. And of course it gets worse on hard/elite...
I think they reason they said that was mention somewhere (can't remember the thread, nor willing to dig it out but it's from one of the dev's comment) that why they use X/one_type AND X/another_type due to their programming implemention

Sorry Im getting back to this comment so late but, being able to bypass DR/Good and Dr/Evil should work because technically they have a metal counterpart that would enable them to bypass said DR/.

However, I agree that Flametouched Iron should not grant additional saving throws/ac vs evil mobs nor should Greensteel gain the extra d2(or other) base damage. Also I dont think multiple Greensteel weapons can "tear your face off", just items.

Adding the ability to bypass DR/Good and DR/Evil would lessen the blow(unless its on a Good or Evil mob) a bit IMO.

Untrue, On the boss Devil and Demon their DR is DR/Silver AND DR/Good. Not DR/Silver&Good

I'm not seeing the difference. So you use a silver longsword. That gets through the /Silver DR but then you apply the /Good DR. Since they are the same amount, you still subtract 15 damage. So switch to a Holy long sword. That gets through the /Good DR, but the Silver DR subtracts 15 damage. You end up in the same place. But if you have a Holy silver longsword you bypass both DRs and have no damage subtracted.

As long as the DR is the same amount, DR/X and DR/Y is equivalent to DR/ X and Y. The only time it's different is when the values vary. So a Warforged Paladin has Adamantine Plating for DR 2/Adamantine and He casts Angelskin for DR 5/Evil. So if you hit him with a regular weapon, you subtract 5 damage because it's higher. So then you use your Unholy Cold Iron Falchion. The Evil requirement is met so you bypass the /Evil DR. But it's not Adamantine, so you stilll subtract 2 damage. If you increased his DR with Feats and enhancements to 5/Adamantine, it would be equivalent to DR 5/ Evil and Adamantine.

P.S. Devils are generally weak against Silver. Demons are Generally weak against Cold Iron.

If you hit them with a Plain ole' +5 Longsword you will get a Yellow Damage numebr at -30 Damage. THis will usually be a 0 for most characters.

If you hit him with a +5 SIlver Longsword you get a Yellow Number at -15 Damge. Most characters will still see SOME damage.

Ditto for a +5 Longsword of Pure Good or Holy +5 Longsword. yellow numbers at -15 Damage

So a basic Transmuter of Maiming for example will be subject to just 15 Points of his 30 Total DR.

This is 100% false. When a monster has DR 15/silver and DR 15/good, 15 points of damage will be reduced from the damage delt. For all purposes the monster has DR 15/silver & good. The developers did it this way because of coding issues.

Different types of DR don't stack, and never have.

Sorry but that's untrue. People are confused enough about DR without injecting more uncertainty into the debate. You need good (from pure good, holy, flametouched iron etc etc) and silver (from alchemical silver or transmuting) to bypass Harry's DR - if you do not have both then you will not bypass it at all.

this is wrong; impaqt .. drs do not stack

if I cast angelskin for dr 5/evil and haev stoneskin for dr 10/adamantine, a non-evil or adamantine weapon still only loses 10 damage to the stoneskin: the 5 does not apply.

if you want to test this, use dr 3/- item and stoneskin together (like golden greaves) .. you will not have 13 reduced per attack.

drs do not stack except active+passive (eg shield block drs + your best ordinary dr).

As with WF DR say a barbarian with DR 6/- and DR 9/ admantine it does not stack and become DR 15. Instead only the highest applies. Vs an addy weapon it will be 6 against everything else it will be 9. Same for wearing 2 proetection items +3 protection + another +2 protection = +3 protection only.
