Why? Because they arbitrarily decided these things without thought?

There's no reason someone can be any class combination at all, except preconceived notions that border on racism.

    Default Sin!

So I suppose to answer the OP... multiclassing looks mostly sinful to me.

    Too many monstrosity/amalgamation/Min-Max builds.

    Arrow I make Monsters.....Mr Ed??

    Dear Mr. Ed 7.0??

I can understand that due to lack of exposure; to being forced to play a game in it's diaper-age, also a framed-type game in days of little or no information superhighway, Xenophobia and just getting off the high from winning the Space Race Old School D&D Players have a "Purist" mentality and creating something unique and more effective can be a challenge....... BUT don't assume a Multi-Class Build is a Min-Maxer. Monstrosity? If well done You bet.

Allow me to explain - My Portfolio:

    Bruttus Chaosbane - Dwarven Paladin 12 Fighter 4 - 69 Unbuffed-Undispellable-Unboosted & "Non-Insight Weapon Dependent" AC, 30 STR; Khopesh S&B IntimiTank (44 now 62 by L20); 482 HP's; UMD 26. Feats Include: Power Attack, Cleave, Extend.
End Build: Paladin 14 Fighter 4 Rogue 2 (Evasion will only be used on specific quests / situations as it would require swapping to DTLeather I haven't worked on yet...)

Gregorius Chaosbane - Human Cleric 11 Paladin 3 Fighter 2 - 28 STR, 54 AC, Longsword S&B "Holy Tactics Warrior - Not Battle Cleric"; 396 HP; 32 WIS; 1280 SP's; Feats include: Extend, Maximize, Empower (not healing), Quicken, Power Attack, Cleave.
End Build: Haven't decided if Cleric 13 Paladin 5 Fighter 2 or Cleric 12 Paladin 6 Fighter 2 (2 PrE's would make this guy VERY nice at the cost of 7th level Cleric Spells, SP's, etc...)

Arkkanoz Chaosbane - Drow Wizard 14 Rogue 2 - 37 INT (for now) 1500 SP's, 296 HP's, Reflex Save 33, All MetaMagic Feats worth having and Self Healing (UMD-Heal Scrolls), If Traps and Rogue Skills EVER become important this build will give any Rogue out there a run for his Plat.
End Build: Wizard 18 Rogue 2

Suntzzu Chaosbane – Human Monk 12 Ranger 3 Rogue 1 - 54 AC, 30 STR Monk, 352 HP. GTWF, Bludgeoning Spec'd. Path of Domination, High INT and Started Rogue to maximize all Skills, Sneaky and Deadly will have ManyShot by end game and 26 Class granted SR. Not a Tempest-Monk...yet.
End Build: Monk 13 Ranger 6 Rogue 1

Barbarrus - Dwarf Ranger 8 Barbarian 6 Fighter 2 - Low AC; STR 30 / 40 Tempest TWF Ranger, Evasion by Level 17, 4 Rages, 466 Base HP's, Bow & DwarvenAxe/Heavy Pick user. (Slash-Pierce Spec'd) Has Barbarian Crit Rage I (from the Glitch-days) and will net respec to retain it. NO UMD and a Cleric's almost worse nightmare.
End Build: Ranger 12 Barbarian 6 Fighter 2

Inquisittor - Dwarf Barbarian 7 Cleric 7 Fighter 2 – 61 AC; 462 HP; 850 SP; 30/36 STR Berzerker “Intimi-Cleric”; S&B Dwarven Axe Wielder, Intimidate 46; Self Healing with Jinx’s Vexation (Sup. Devotion IV) and Leviks Combo, 8 DV’s!! - He started as a “fun build” and ended up being quite the Tank. Feats Include: Power Attack, Cleave, Combat Expertise,
End Build: Barbarian 11 Cleric 7 Fighter 2 – (Yeah I miss out on FB II but meh…)

Elrikk Chaosbane – Drow Fighter 10 Paladin 4 Rogue 2 – 53 AC, 32 STR, 396 HP S&B, Khopesh wielding “Batman Build”; Monster Saves, High UMD, Decent but not Optimal Intimidate Good OL Skills and no DD at all. Feats include: Weapon Speciali
My 2nd Toon and 1st of all Chaosbane’s (My Lawful Good Builds surname) and named after my favorite Fantasy character.
End Build: Fighter 12 Paladin 6 Rogue 2 Kensai / Defender of Siberys

Predattor Chaosbane – Halfling (1st and Probably ONLY Halfling I’ll make) Ranger 11 Rogue 3 Monk 2; 350 HP’s; 54 AC for now (Raiment’s haven’t dropped yet and I refuse to go thru Lottery DTRobes torture; Pierce-Spec’d Rapier / SSword and Dagger GTWF Sneak Attack Optimized Tempest Fighter; High UMD; High Skills; Feats Include: Power Attack, Many Shot,
End Build: Ranger 12 Rogue 6 Monk 2 or Ranger 15 Rogue 3 Monk 2.

Dexxaan – Rogue 8 Ranger 4 Fighter 4 – Battle Rogue – 48 AC, STR 26/28; DEX 34, 330 HP TWF and Ranged Spec’d, High UMD, High Skills (Base 16 INT)
End Build: Debating between: Rogue 12 Ranger 4 Fighter 4 or Rogue 10 Ranger 6 Fighter 4. **** I may just re-roll him he’s my 1st toon after all and have been neglecting him forever. He’s not GS geared much and... /rant off

I'll repeat my closing statement from a few posts ago just for you Mr Ed 7.0 (seven re-rolls?)

Some classes should multi-class and others shouldn't, some people should multi-class and others definitely not.

Level 20 Cap and capstones have made multiclassing a bit more debatable, because Purists have capstones to fall back on as a safety cushion that their way is the right way, and thats fine with me, the last thing I want is a world setting where I'm die-roll dependent to perform well.

How can that make sense? If you recognise the limitations of a class system I can't understand why you think multiclassing is a sin.

One 5 Letter word for you GURPS. (Steve Jackson Games -and I'd drop DDO in a heartbeat if it ever appeared)

But until then remember: Some classes should multi-class and others shouldn't, some people should multi-class and others definitely not.
