    Default "Turtle" cleric

I notice an increasing number of halfling Monk 2 / Cleric 14 builds out there preparing themselves for Mod 9. I understand the concept of the build and the synergies with the Wisdom based bonus to the AC.

However, wouldn't there be a viable "armored" version of this build? Roughly, I'm thinking along the lines of:
    - Fighter or paladin 1-2 / Cleric 14+ (until mod 9)
    - Human for extra feat or dwarf for starting CON
    - Max WIS, 12 DEX and rest in CON
    - Usual feats for healbot cleric (emp healing, maximize, mental tough, imp mental tough)
    - A couple of AC/HP/DR focused feats (toughness, shield mastery)
    - The usual cleric heal enhancements
    - A couple of AC/HP/DR focused enhancements (armored agility, racial toughness, fighter toughness, saves)

In essence, it would consist in a usual healbot build, with the CHA / DV capabilities sacrificed for AC / HP / DR. From a distance it would look like a battle cleric, but actually would not be viable for melee as all melee-related enhancements/feats would be used for armor/defense. Basically, the goal is to have a toon who can sit in the middle of the battle in active blocking and survive as long as its melee fellows.

    1. Do you think it's viable, or do I just risk ending with a mediocre AC / HP / DR level that's not going to change my survivability a ton?
    2. If viable, it's probably been well thought through before - do you know where I can find a good template?
    3. Is it just dumb to try to design a non-positional healer in the first place?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I think more of the reason they take monk is because they get evasion but all the other little things that can help them out. Plus gives them two little feats to play arround with... probbly most likely toughness.
