We've been hard at work in the DDO Compendium making improvements for Module 9! Here is a look at some of the changes coming!
New Look!
The Compendium will have a new look with a dark background. Official and player entries will look more similar. You can see an example of the new look in the images throughout this post.
Expanded Feat and Enhancement Information
The archvists of the Twelve continue to expand details in the Compendium!
- The Enhancements section in class articles now display links to to other feats/enhancements that are granted when you take the enhancement.
- Feat articles now list any prerequisites required to take the feat.
- Sub-feats, e.g., weapon proficiencies, are rolled up nicely into one article now. This extends to class and race articles; the class will only list the particular sub-feats you get. e.g., Drow Elves list only the Shuriken for the exotic weapon proficiency feat.
- Feats and Enhancements have been appropriately separated into their respective categories.
Standard Search Auto-Complete Feature
If you're trying to find something in the Compendium using standard search, the auto-complete feature can help! Just type in three or more letters, and a list of possible matches in the official content will appear. Selecting a match will forward you to the appropriate article or advanced search result page.
Quest, Raid, Story Arch & Adventure Area Info!
The Compendium archivists are pleased to finally show their first illuminations of Story Arcs, Quests, and Adventure_Areas in the Compendium. This is just the beginning of the work, but they are pleased with the first fruits of their efforts....
Story Arcs list the various chapters in the arc; each chapter will list the goals necessary to complete the chapter. Goals will link to the quest or NPC you must interact with.
Adventure Areas list the rare encounters available, exploration points to be found, and slayer deeds to be had.
Quests list the max group size, any patron you gain favor with, the duration, and a table of the base XP gained for each difficulty level available. It will also list the main objectives necessary to complete the quest along with any optional objectives available. The optional objectives list the % of base XP bonus given upon completion.
You can also continue to add any other helpful tidbits, quest facts, or other information as a player entry that will apear immediately below the official quest entry. Your entry is separated by one separator bar that indicates it is a player entry, but in color, style, and placement, it looks the same as the official entry!
To complement the new Quest articles, we've added Quests to the advanced search! You can search for quests by name, level, group size, type, and more!
NPC Info!
Archivists have also taken a first pass at adding NPCs. Vendor NPC articles are the most useful at the moment. You can see information such as what items the vendor sells, and use your mouse to click through to the full item description, or view it in a small pop-up when you mouse over the icon! We will be continuing to expand the information available about the NPCs in the future!
Favor Info!
You can also browse the list of Patrons and learn how much favor you must curry from them to get that elusive title and rank. Quests also include a link over to the appropriate Favor associated with the quest.
Parsers
Our resident archiver of the Twelve had this to say:
New Glossary FeatureSome people have been asking for the MediaWiki parser functions; sadly, we could find no reference to them in any of Stormreach's libraries. However, an unusual looking Warforged informed us that he has equipped the Compendium with these parsers. Perhaps you can make something out of them...
Still trying to get the hang of basic DDO game terminology? A glossary is now available in the Compendium! You can see the base definition of common DDO game related terms, and links are provided to any compendium articles that may relate to it (such as related items, abilities, feats, spells, etc).
We hope you will enjoy the new look, functionality, and features coming to the Compendium for Mod 9!
